Need fitted wardrobes in Dagenham Dock?

From workshop to your room

When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether brick, block, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the bedroom and where it is in the house.
  2. We visit to measure the room and talk through the design, and we measure the stairs, landings and doorways too.
  3. You receive a written quote for the wardrobes.
  4. In our workshop the wardrobes are built in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, so each piece fits through the doors and round the landings.
  5. Fitting day: the sections come in, are joined and set level, and the doors are hung.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall

About our fitted wardrobes in Dagenham Dock

An outside wall is often colder than an inside one, and clothes pressed against a cold wall can lead to condensation. Where a wardrobe goes on an external wall, we plan ventilation behind and inside it, which helps keep mould away. We use moisture-resistant MDF, which suits that position. If your home has a room too narrow for hinged doors and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms, that is what fitted wardrobes are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

Fitted furniture in a bedroom has to work with how you use the room. In Dagenham Dock, as anywhere in London, we start by asking what the room is for. The layout, the doors and the inside follow from that. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted, in a colour agreed with you.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Looking after your furniture

Looking after painted furniture is simple with a little care. These habits help most:

  • Let us know which walls face outside
  • Ask your electrician about moving sockets early
  • Look at whether your lease needs consent for alterations
  • Check how much space there is in front for doors to open

Fill the rails gradually and spread the weight along them. Heavy coats are best on a short rail or near a support, so the rail stays straight.

Keep any ventilation gaps clear, especially where the wardrobe meets an outside wall. Look out for a musty smell or spots on clothes and deal with any damp early.

Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Dagenham Dock

Sharing a bedroom means sharing the wardrobe. A fitted wardrobe can be planned with separate sections, each with its own mix of hanging, shelves and drawers.

These come up often when people first get in touch:

  • Bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes
  • A sloping ceiling that is hard to use
  • Standard wardrobes that do not fill the wall
  • A room too narrow for hinged doors

If you live in a flat close to Dagenham Dock station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • How the doors are hung and adjusted
  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
  • Have they measured the stairs, lift and doorways?

Our checklist for choosing a carpenter

How it is made

Doors and drawer fronts

Doors can be plain, panelled or shaped to suit the room. They’re painted to match or contrast with the walls.

Plinths and scribe strips

Scribing means trimming edges on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It is how a straight carcass meets a wall that is not straight.

What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many doors and drawers there are
  • The width and height of the space
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • Parking and unloading on your street

Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. That is reflected in the quote.

Before the design visit

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres

Every quote follows a design visit. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, then send a written quote. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Questions we are often asked

Do you cover homes near Dagenham Dock station?

Yes, homes across Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room.

Is Dagenham Dock in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes, Dagenham Dock is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Barking and Dagenham and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Can wardrobes be fitted on an uneven floor?

It’s common, and it’s allowed for. The wardrobe is set level with a plinth or adjustable feet and scribed to the walls.

Can a fitted wardrobe go against a cold wall?

Yes, as long as it’s ventilated. External walls can be colder and damper than internal ones, so we plan airflow behind and within it.

Dagenham Dock homes and fitted wardrobes

In the streets around Dagenham Dock, the largest groups of homes date from between 1973 and 1999 (about 91%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 7%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. TfL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every part of London, Barking and Dagenham included. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Dagenham Dock. Parking and access are planned at the measuring visit. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Barking and Dagenham are set locally. If your street in Dagenham Dock is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. We ask about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

For families living near St Peter's Catholic Primary School, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow. If you live in a period home close to St Martin's Church, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind fitted wardrobes is part of the design.
