What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:

  • How square the room is
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted
  • Doors and drawers, and how many

We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote, naming the materials and finish. To arrange a design visit, message us from the contact page.

What to send when you get in touch

When you contact us, these help most:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • How you want to use the space

You do not need exact measurements to get started. Everything is measured properly when we visit. To arrange it, drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Fitted wardrobes in Leyton Grange: what you get

You can choose hinged or sliding doors. With hinged doors, you see a full section when you open them, though they need room in front to open. Sliding doors suit tighter rooms, but only part of the inside is open at any one time. Which suits your room is something we talk through when we visit. Most enquiries start with dusty space on top of the wardrobe and musty smells in a wardrobe on a cold wall; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

With a large share of homes around Leyton Grange built before 1919, many bedrooms sit against solid brick external walls. Cold external walls can lead to condensation, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture is part of the design. Small back bedrooms and box rooms are common too, and they suit fitted wardrobes and other fitted storage well.

If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Questions from Leyton Grange

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Leyton Grange?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Leyton Midland Road station?

Yes. We cover all of Waltham Forest and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Can I send photos ahead of the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. It helps to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.

How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?

The wardrobes are made in sections sized to get up the stairs, into the lift and through the doors. We measure the stairs, landings and lift as well as the bedroom. In a leasehold flat, it is worth checking the lease first.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.

Do you do the electrics?

No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.

Why people ask for fitted wardrobes in Leyton Grange

Moving home often prompts it. Wardrobes from an old home rarely suit a new room, or won’t go up the stairs at all. Fitted wardrobes are designed for the room you have now.

A few of the things people ask us to solve include:

  • Wasted space beside the chimney breast
  • Damp or musty clothes against an external wall
  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • A tight bedroom where doors get in the way

If your children go to Riverley Primary School or a school nearby, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else.

What to check before you book

  • Will the doors close with even gaps?
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • Real projects you can actually look at

Honest limits

Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. In practice, that means:

  • The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
  • Fixing the cause of condensation or damp
  • Decorating or plastering the room

If in doubt, you can send us a few details through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What it’s made from

  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish

How it’s made

Spray-painted finish

A sprayed coat covers edges, corners and panels evenly. You choose the colour before we start.

Plinths and scribe strips

Scribing means trimming edges on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It’s how a straight carcass meets a wall that isn’t straight.

How fitting works for fitted wardrobes

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so it helps to let neighbours know about fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. You let us know about the room, including any slopes, alcoves or windows. A rough sketch of the room helps if you have one.
  2. We come to measure and talk through hanging heights, doors and drawers.
  3. We put the design, materials and finish into a written quote.
  4. Once you are happy, the wardrobes are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The wardrobes are fitted in your home, ready to use. We adjust the doors so they hang and close evenly.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Ask for a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if you do not, that’s fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.
