Fitted Wardrobes in Manor Park

Fitted wardrobes for your home in Manor Park: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes built to the shape of your bedroom. We visit to measure and talk through the design, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it.

  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • No space in front for doors to swing
  • Too little room for clothes

Fitted wardrobes for your home in Manor Park

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.

The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t typically do that in an older room.

How we make fitted wardrobes for Manor Park

Wardrobes can be built around a bed, with cupboards each side and a run of storage above the headboard. Others work around a window. The layout is planned so the room doesn’t feel boxed in. If your home has a tight bedroom where doors get in the way and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes, that’s what fitted wardrobes are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

In streets where many homes were built before 1919, as they were around Manor Park, many bedrooms sit against solid brick external walls. Those walls can be colder than internal ones, so wardrobes and storage on them are designed with ventilation behind and inside to help avoid condensation. Smaller back bedrooms in houses of that age are good places for fitted wardrobes.

Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

What affects the cost of fitted wardrobes

Several things affect the price:

  • The internal fittings
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Spray painting or hand painting

Rooms that are not square take more work: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. That’s reflected in the quote, written once we have measured up.

Before the design visit

A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:

  • A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Rough sizes, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall

To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and what you want the furniture to do. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and send you a quote in writing afterwards.

What happens on fitting day

There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. Unloading is kept short, with sections taken straight inside. Saturdays are possible by arrangement.

  1. You contact us with a few details about the room and the wardrobes you’d like, with a rough idea of what you need to hang and fold.
  2. We visit to measure up and plan the doors, rails, shelves and drawers with you. Hinged or sliding doors are part of that conversation.
  3. You receive a quote setting out the design and the paint finish, ready for you to read through.
  4. We build the wardrobes in our workshop, in sections sized to get into your home. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit them in your home, scribe them to the walls and hang the doors.

Before fitting day

  • Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Advice

Honest limits

It is worth being clear about where our work stops:

  • Redecorating around the wardrobes
  • Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
  • Electrical work, such as moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Manor Park

About 58% of the homes in the area around Manor Park went up before 1919, and about 15% between 1945 and 1972, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Manor Park, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary the Virgin (Grade I), less than half a mile south-east, and Public Library (Grade II), under half a mile north-west. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, such as fixing into original panelling. It’s worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. More than half of the homes in the streets around Manor Park (about 58%) were built before 1919, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Older bedrooms typically have alcoves and tall ceilings, both of which fitted wardrobes can use, scribed to walls that are not straight.

If your children go to Sir John Heron Primary School or a school nearby, hanging rails set low at first can be raised later, as children get taller. If you live near Loxford Park, fitted wardrobes are normally planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. Valentines Mansion, about 1.6 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.

What it is made from

Plinths and scribe strips

The plinth lifts the wardrobe and hides an uneven floor. It can line up with the skirting.

Spray-painted finish

Spray painting is done in the workshop, which gives large doors a smooth, even surface. It suits a crisp, modern look as well as a classic panelled door.

Common questions about fitted wardrobes

My house in Manor Park is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

Do you cover homes near Manor Park station?

Yes, homes across Newham and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You do. The paint colour is agreed with you.

Can a fitted wardrobe go against a cold wall?

Yes. Wardrobes on outside walls are designed with ventilation behind and inside, in moisture-resistant MDF. If there’s damp on the wall already, it should be sorted first.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Should I send pictures?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
