Fitted wardrobes designed for your room
Fitted wardrobes in East Village: what you get
Some bedrooms suit wardrobes that wrap around the bed, with tall cupboards either side and storage bridging over the headboard. Others work around a window, sometimes with a dressing table or a window seat between them. We plan the layout so the room still feels open. If you’re living with not enough hanging space and clothes piled on chairs and in spare rooms, fitted wardrobes made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.
Many homes around East Village were built since 2000, and across London a lot of homes from those years are compact flats in newer blocks. Small rooms suit fitted furniture that uses the full height and the awkward corners. Boxed-in pipes and service risers can be built around, so nothing is wasted.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It describes the fitted wardrobe we’ve designed for the room, what it is made from and how it’s finished.

What fitted wardrobes can’t fix
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:
- Curing damp, which needs the right specialist
- Electrical work, such as moving sockets or switches, which is for your electrician
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
Not sure whether your space suits fitted wardrobes? You can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

Caring for painted furniture
These points come up often when people plan fitted wardrobes. They’re worth knowing before and after fitting:
- Decide what goes on shelves and what goes in drawers
- Check the route into your flat, not just the room
- Look at how many long coats and dresses you have
- Plan any socket or switch changes with your electrician before fitting
Once clothes go in and the wardrobes are in daily use, doors may settle slightly. Hinges can usually be adjusted to line the doors up again.
Keep any ventilation gaps clear. Watch for musty smells or marks on clothes.
How fitting day works
At the end, we tidy up. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and explain how to look after the paint. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Stud walls can carry pipes and cables, so we check before drilling, and heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor. Any new sockets or plumbing are for your electrician or plumber.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room.
- We come to measure and go through the design, including the doors and the finish.
- Your written quote follows, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- We build the wardrobes in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The wardrobes are fitted and scribed, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Before we leave, we go through the doors and drawers with you. New paint takes time to cure, so treat it gently at first.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
Arranging a design visit
Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To arrange a visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Within a mile of the centre of East Village, 5 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. It lets us plan the stop before fitting day.
Sutton House, about 1.8 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go. Close to Mabley Green? Fitted wardrobes are typically planned on the walls away from the window, so the light and the view stay. If your children go to Chobham Academy or a school nearby, fitted wardrobes in a child’s room can be planned so the inside layout changes as they grow.

How it’s made
Spray-painted finish
Spraying coats edges and corners evenly and leaves no brush marks. You choose the colour before we start.
Moisture-resistant MDF
With no grain to show through, MDF gives a calm painted finish. We use the moisture-resistant grade for fitted wardrobes.
Your questions about fitted wardrobes in East Village
I live in a flat in East Village. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted wardrobes are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Is East Village in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?
Yes. We cover all of Newham and the rest of London, and East Village is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.
How long are you in the house for fitting?
The fitting depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. The wardrobes are built in our workshop first, so the time in your home is mostly fitting and finishing.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Can I send pictures before the visit?
Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough measurements. You can send them when you send us a few details through our contact form.
Why bespoke in East Village?
Large flat-pack wardrobes can be hard to build in a small bedroom. We make fitted wardrobes in sections sized to the route into your home, then put together in the room. Ready-made units fixed to stud walls are often held by fixings that don’t suit the board. Built-in pieces are designed with the right fixings from the start, and heavy pieces can stand on the floor.
Tricky rooms take more time: uneven walls, sloping floors and angled ceilings all add scribing and cutting on site. The quote allows for it, written once we’ve measured up.
