Manor Park Loft Storage

Eaves cupboards, drawers and wardrobes in converted lofts, designed for your room in Manor Park. After a design visit and a quote in writing, it is built in our workshop and fitted in your home.

  • A loft room with too many jobs
  • No wardrobe that fits under the slope
  • A dormer that is not being used

Loft storage designed for your room

Loft storage in Manor Park: what you get

Sloping ceilings make standard wardrobes hard to fit. We shape wardrobes to the slope, putting hanging space at the tall end and shelves or drawers where it’s low. It uses the full height of the room. We will plan it at the measuring visit in Manor Park. We make eaves cupboards from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are needing storage in a loft office and a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised.

Outside walls in houses from before 1919 are typically solid brick, which can be cold, so a gap and ventilation behind fitted storage help avoid condensation. A large share of the homes around Manor Park date from then. Damp should be sorted before anything is fitted against the wall.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the eaves cupboard we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish.

Questions from Manor Park

My house in Manor Park is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?

Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether solid brick or lath and plaster.

Is Manor Park in the area you cover for loft storage?

Yes, we work across Newham, Manor Park included, and across the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Can you add sockets inside the units?

No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician, and some electrical work in homes is covered by Part P of the Building Regulations. We plan the furniture around where they’ll go.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch, and we will see what we can do.

Will cupboards in the eaves stop air moving?

Not when it is planned well. We look behind the knee wall at the measuring visit and plan the storage so air can still move. Insulation and ventilation work itself is not ours.

Can a wardrobe follow a sloping ceiling?

Yes. The wardrobe follows the angle of the ceiling, with hanging where there’s height. It makes the most of the space. We will work out the layout when we visit.

How fitting works for loft storage

There isn’t much for you to do on fitting day. We need someone to let us in at the start, and the room should already be cleared, as agreed during the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Terraced streets in London are often lined with parked cars, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. Unloading is kept short, with sections taken straight inside. Saturdays are possible by arrangement.

  1. To begin, send us a few details through our contact form; a brief note on the loft and the storage you want is enough.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
  3. Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
  4. In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
  5. We fit the storage in the loft, trimming the edges so they meet the ceiling neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Advice

Pricing loft storage in Manor Park

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • Doors and drawers, and how many
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.

Getting in touch

A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:

  • Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
  • How you want to use the space
  • Approximate measurements of the space

If you already have something in mind, tell us; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. The design is talked through at the visit, once we’ve measured, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, send us a few details through our contact form.

What it is made from

Moisture-resistant MDF

Because it cuts cleanly, MDF is ideal for angled panels under the slope. The grade we use is moisture-resistant and paints well. Most of what you see is MDF.

Plinths and scribe strips

The floor in a loft room is rarely perfectly level. We set the storage level on a plinth or adjustable feet, so everything opens and closes as it should.

Where other trades come in

We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Adding or replacing insulation
  • Any work on the structure of the house
  • New sockets, lights or wiring, which are for your electrician

Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can fill in our short enquiry form and we’ll tell you. Our process from visit to fitting.

Why bespoke in Manor Park?

Off-the-shelf wardrobes often don’t fit up narrow loft stairs. Our storage is made in sections sized for the route. It means a full wardrobe can still reach the room. Ready-made units stop well short of a tall period ceiling, wasting space that could hold things you rarely use. Fitted furniture can go all the way up.

The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

What you get with us

  • A design visit, then a quote in writing
  • Work across the whole of London
  • Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement
  • Made for your room, not a standard size

Loft storage in Manor Park: local notes

Homes built before 1919 make up about 58% of the housing in the neighbourhood around Manor Park, with about 15% built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Near the centre of Manor Park, Historic England’s list includes Church of St Mary the Virgin (Grade I), less than half a mile south-east, and Public Library (Grade II), under half a mile north-west. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, may need listed building consent from the council. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. About 38% of households in the streets around Manor Park live in terraced houses, based on Census 2021. Loft conversions are common in London terraces, leaving eaves and sloping ceilings to use.

For families living near Sir John Heron Primary School, deep drawers suit the bulky things families collect, from scooters to swimming kit. The wider area includes historic houses such as Valentines Mansion, about 1.6 miles north. If your own home is a period one, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle. If your home is one of the older houses near St Mary's Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.
