Wimbledon Park Fitted Wardrobes

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. Our work on fitted wardrobes in Wimbledon Park starts with a design visit, and everything is made in our workshop.

  • Gaps above and around standalone wardrobes
  • A bedroom that never feels tidy
  • Wasted space beside the chimney breast

Fitted wardrobes for homes in Wimbledon Park

Fitted wardrobes are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The doors are finished with spray paint in the workshop or painted by hand, in a colour agreed with you. We then fit them in your home, setting them level on adjustable feet or a plinth. If you’re living with mismatched bedroom furniture and too little room for clothes, fitted wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

Whether your home in Wimbledon Park is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, fitted wardrobes are designed for the room as it is. On an external wall, ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps keep condensation away. The inside layout is planned around what you actually store.

The furniture is made in our workshop after you have had the quote and decided to go ahead. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so every detail can be checked first.

Questions from Wimbledon Park

Is Wimbledon Park in the area you cover for fitted wardrobes?

Yes, we work across Merton, Wimbledon Park included, and across the rest of London. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.

How do you fit fitted wardrobes in a flat in Wimbledon Park?

We measure the route in along with the room itself: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Fitted wardrobes are made in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.

What affects the price of fitted wardrobes?

Every job is priced for its room: size, internal fittings, the finish and how awkward the walls are all play a part. The written quote follows the design visit.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You choose it, and we agree it with you before the furniture is finished. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

Does fitted furniture need planning permission?

Not normally. Inside a house, fitted furniture doesn’t normally need planning permission. If the building is listed, works affecting its character can require listed building consent, so ask the council’s conservation officer.

Can I send photos before the visit?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, particularly with rough measurements. To send them, message us from the contact page.

Flats, leases and landlords

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls at the design visit.

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Wimbledon Park

About 42% of the homes in the neighbourhood around Wimbledon Park went up before 1919, and about 19% between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. 14 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Wimbledon Park. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Wimbledon Park, as it does anywhere else in London. How the van gets to your door is planned at the design visit.

If you live in a flat close to Earlsfield station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day. If you live in a period home close to Church of St Luke, tall ceilings give fitted wardrobes room to reach the cornice.

When you need someone else

Damp treatment and building work are for other specialists, and there are a few other limits too:

  • Painting walls and ceilings, or repairing plaster
  • Converting a loft (we build storage in lofts that are already converted)
  • Taking out a chimney breast to make space

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can use our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How it works.

What it’s made from

  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hinged or sliding doors
  • Hanging rails, shelves and drawers
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish

What happens on fitting day

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the run, the doors and what goes inside, and your quote sets out the fitting days. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. Either way, the day is planned at the design visit. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the bedroom.
  2. At the design visit, we measure up and plan the doors and the inside with you. We also look at the way in, in case the sections need to go up narrow stairs.
  3. You receive a written quote setting out the wardrobes, doors and finish.
  4. Each section is built in our workshop to the room’s measurements.
  5. We fit them in your home, levelled and scribed to the walls. A hand-painted finish, if you chose one, is done on site.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Ask for a quote

The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing for you to look over. To arrange the visit, message us from the contact page.

The problems fitted wardrobes solve

Some bedrooms are hard to furnish. Slopes, chimney breasts, low windows and doors in tricky spots leave standard wardrobes with nowhere to go. We shape fitted wardrobes around those features.

Most of the enquiries we get are about needs like these:

  • Empty alcoves in the bedroom
  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Mismatched bedroom furniture
  • Too little room for clothes

The wider area includes historic houses such as Southside House, about 1.8 miles south-west. For a period home anywhere nearby, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where fitted wardrobes go.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • How doors and drawers are fitted
  • Whether they measure the room themselves
  • Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote

Choosing a carpenter in London: a checklist

What it’s made from

Doors and drawer fronts

Door styles range from simple flat fronts to panelled ones. You choose a colour that matches or contrasts with the room.

Plinths and scribe strips

Scribe strips are trimmed on site to follow the walls and ceiling. It’s how a straight carcass meets a wall that isn’t straight.
