Fitted Home Offices in Sipson

In Sipson, we design fitted home offices around the room you actually have. Your home office is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • A desk in the wrong light
  • Flimsy shelves that won’t take the weight
  • A corner too odd for a standard desk

Fitted home offices designed for your room

About our fitted home offices in Sipson

Not every home has a spare room, but a wide landing or a loft room can work. A desk under a sloping ceiling needs careful planning so you can sit and stand comfortably. On a landing, the furniture must leave a clear way past. At the design visit in Sipson, we’ll see what fits. Most enquiries start with no way to put work away and a desk in the wrong light; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

Wherever your home in Sipson sits in London’s mix of housing, the desk, shelves and storage are designed as one piece. Cable routes are part of that, with any new sockets left to your electrician. Shelf spans and thicknesses are chosen so books don’t bow them.

The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

How it is made

Shelves

Open shelves above a desk keep books in reach. Lower, deeper shelves suit files and a printer. The design visit is where depths are agreed.

Hand-painted finish

A hand-painted finish can be done in your home after fitting. It’s easy to touch up if it gets marked. That suits a desk that sees daily use.

From workshop to your room

Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it is going into, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall, until the line is tight. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. The fixings suit whatever the walls are made of. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the room and the home it is in.
  2. We visit to measure the room and the way in, and discuss the design. It helps to let us know about parking, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
  3. We send a written quote.
  4. The desk and shelving are built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route.
  5. We carry the sections in, assemble them in the room and fit them, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand

Advice

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths.

Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there’s often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.

What fitted home offices can’t fix

We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Making good the walls, which is for a plasterer or decorator
  • Installing IT equipment or broadband
  • Knocking through or opening up rooms

If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can fill in our short enquiry form and we will give you a straight answer. Our process from visit to fitting.

What affects the price in Sipson

Not every room costs the same, for these reasons:

  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • The internal fittings
  • The width and height of the space
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls

We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing, with the materials and finish set out. To arrange a design visit, use our contact form.

What to send when you contact us

Getting some details early makes the visit more useful. Where you can, include:

  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Rough sizes: width, height and depth
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling

Getting a quote starts with some details: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, get in touch through our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Home working in Sipson: local notes

In the area around Sipson, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 34%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 27%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Near the centre of Sipson, Historic England’s list includes The King William IV Public House (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west, and Lanz Farmhouse (Grade II), about 0.5 miles south-west. If your own home is listed, internal works that affect its character, like fixing into or removing original joinery, can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Hillingdon is inside it. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in Sipson. How the van gets to your door is planned at the design visit.

If you live near Lake Farm Country Park, a desk facing a window makes the most of the daylight. For a family home near Cherry Lane Primary School, a built-in desk can be shared between home working and homework. For a flat near West Drayton station, the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it.

Your questions about fitted home offices in Sipson

Can you make fitted home offices for a home in Sipson?

Yes, we work across Hillingdon, Sipson included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can tell us about the room on our contact form with a few details.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Sipson?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

Can you add power points to the desk?

Sockets and wiring are for your electrician, not us. We design the desk with cable routes and leave room where sockets will go. We can agree where sockets should go when we visit.

My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?

Walls and floors that are not true are part of the job in older homes. The furniture is scribed to follow the walls and levelled on feet or a plinth, so there are no gaps at the sides.

How is a home office priced?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. A simple desk with shelves involves less work than a full wall of cupboards and drawers. We set it all out in a quote in writing.

Do photos help?

Yes, they help. A few pictures of the room, from floor to ceiling, tell us a lot, especially with rough measurements. You can send them when you get in touch through our contact form.
