Fitted home offices for your home in Sudbury
Questions we’re often asked
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Sudbury & Harrow Road station?
Yes, homes across Brent and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Sudbury?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Can a desk be fitted into an alcove?
Often, yes. An alcove beside a chimney breast can take a desk with shelves above. We scribe it to the walls, which are rarely straight in a period room. At the design visit we will measure and tell you what fits.
How long does it take to fit a home office?
How long fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Because everything is made at our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We work tidily and keep the room as clear as we can.
Do I get to choose the colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.
How is the furniture painted?
There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. Your quote sets out which you’ve chosen.
Fitted home offices in Sudbury: what you get
Working from home is easier when the desk, shelves and storage are built for the job. We design and make built-in desks, shelving and storage for spare rooms, alcoves, landings and the space under the eaves, planned around how you work. For a home in Sudbury, it starts with a design visit to measure and talk it through. Typical reasons to get in touch are paperwork and files with nowhere to go and an alcove or landing that could take a desk; the furniture is made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Around Sudbury, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, a dining room or spare bedroom is often the room that has to double as an office. Cupboards that close over the desk let the room switch back when you have finished. We plan the cable routes around your sockets.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Is bespoke worth it?
Ready-made desks rarely plan for cables. A fitted desk can have routes built in for chargers, screens and printers. That keeps the desk and the floor tidy. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Built-in pieces are designed to fit them.
The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We’ll talk through what you need inside during the design visit, then set it out in the quote.

Flats, leases and landlords
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Tell us about it when you get in touch.
Before and after fitting day
None of this takes much effort. Here’s what we suggest:
- Estimate the shelf space you’ll need
- Think about glare on your screen
- Consider your chair when planning the desk
- Decide how much should be open shelving and how much behind doors
A hand-painted finish is easy to touch up if it gets marked. Keep a note of the colour for later. Should you have a question about the office, message us from the contact page and we will help.
Use the cable routes so wires don’t rub the paint. Wires pulled across an edge can wear it. A little tidying now and then keeps the office calm.
How fitting day works
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so we scribe the edges by hand to follow the wall. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Some interwar and suburban streets have driveways, which can make unloading easier, so let us know during the design visit. Otherwise, details of permits or nearby bays help. Doorways, stairs and floors are covered on the way in.
- To begin, fill in our short enquiry form; a brief note on the room and your desk set-up is plenty.
- At the design visit we measure the room, agree the desk height and depth and plan cable routes to the sockets. New sockets or wiring are a job for your electrician, ideally before fitting.
- You receive a written quote for the office.
- We make the desk and storage in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with cable holes and routes built in.
- The desk and shelves are fitted, with the cable routes ready for your equipment.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
- Keep pets in another room while we work
Starting with a design visit
To get a quote, message us from the contact page and tell us a little about the room and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and send you a written quote afterwards.
