About our fitted home offices in Westcombe Park
Spare rooms are a natural choice for an office, though many still need space for guests. The office can be planned to leave space for a bed or a sofa, or with doors that close over the desk when you finish work. We’ll look at how the room is used when we visit in Westcombe Park. If you are living with work things on show in the evening and shelving that bows under the load, home offices made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.
A large number of homes around Westcombe Park date from 2000 onwards, and newer homes often have compact second bedrooms that end up as offices. A desk with shelves and closed storage can share the room with a wall bed or a sofa bed. Walls in newer homes are often plasterboard on studs, so shelves are fixed into the studs or use fixings made for the board.
You get the quote in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Working from home in Westcombe Park
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Westcombe Park were built before 1919 (about 37%) and since 2000 (about 37%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for home offices, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The National Heritage List records 12 entries within half a mile of the centre of Westcombe Park. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Greenwich included. Vans bringing furniture to Westcombe Park fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Parking and access are planned during the design visit.
If your children go to Halstow Primary School or a school nearby, closed cupboards above a desk keep work papers and school books apart. Close to East Greenwich Pleasaunce? A desk placed to make the most of daylight makes a big difference to a working day. For an older house near St George's Church, lath-and-plaster walls need the right fixings for shelves above a desk.
Westcombe Park is in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, about 3 miles east of Plumstead. Whether your home in Westcombe Park is a terraced house, a flat or a newer build, we measure the room as it is and design around it. Our Greenwich coverage includes Westcombe Park.

Questions we’re often asked
Is parking a problem for fitting in Westcombe Park?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Do you cover homes near Westcombe Park station?
Yes, homes across Greenwich and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit.
Is it possible to have an office and a guest bed in one room?
In many rooms, yes. The desk, shelving and storage can be designed to leave room for a bed, or with doors that hide the desk away. If space is tight, a wall bed can be built in alongside.
Can you add power points to the desk?
Sockets and wiring are for your electrician, not us. The desk is planned with routes for cables and space for any sockets. We can agree where sockets should go when we visit.
How long is the fitting for a home office?
The time the fitting takes depends on how much desk, shelving and storage you want, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Every part is made at our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
What if the stairs or lift are small?
It’s made in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. That is why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the design visit.
When is bespoke worth it?
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that are not square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is often a strip of wasted space at the side or above. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can run to the ceiling and fill the width.
What affects the price in Westcombe Park
There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- The width and height of the space
- How many doors and drawers there are
Awkward rooms take more time: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.
Helping us understand the room
To help us picture the room, please include:
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
Rough sizes are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To arrange it, tell us about the room on our contact form with some details about the room. You receive a quote in writing after the visit.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
A standalone desk can go with you when you move. Fitted furniture stays put, and it makes more of the room. Which suits you depends on your plans. In an open-plan room, standalone pieces can look scattered, while fitted furniture can give the space structure.
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

From workshop to your room
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so it’s useful to let us know at the measuring visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- You get in touch with some details about the room and the home it’s in.
