Fitted home offices designed for your room
About our fitted home offices in Wimbledon Park
A fitted home office gives your work a proper place in the house. Our home offices are made for spare rooms, alcoves, landings and loft rooms, planned around how you work. For a home in Wimbledon Park, it starts with a design visit to measure and talk it through. If your home has a corner too odd for a standard desk and working at the kitchen table, that’s what home offices are for, made from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Paperwork, printers and chargers are what make a desk look untidy, so closed storage with routes for cables keeps them out of sight. In Wimbledon Park, as anywhere in London, home offices can be planned with a cupboard for the printer and drawers for files. Cable routes lead to the sockets you have.
If the job needs another trade, like an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

What we don’t do
Before you plan the job, it’s useful to know what we do not do:
- Building a loft conversion, which is not our work
- Installing IT equipment or broadband
- Any wiring or new lights, which need an electrician
Not sure whether your space suits fitted home offices? You can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll tell you before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Could you do it yourself?
Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That’s something we plan for in the design.
Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: off-the-shelf furniture normally costs less up front. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is tricky, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
Questions we’re often asked
I live in a flat in Wimbledon Park. How will the furniture get up the stairs?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Wimbledon Park?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the design visit.
Can the spare room be an office and a guest room?
In many rooms, yes. The desk, shelving and storage can be designed to leave room for a bed, or with doors that hide the desk away. A fold-down wall bed can also be built into the design.
How long does it take to fit a home office?
How long the fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Every part is built in our workshop before we arrive. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.
Can a desk be fitted into an alcove?
In many homes, yes. An alcove beside a chimney breast can take a desk with shelves above. We scribe it to the walls, which are rarely straight in a period room. At the design visit we will measure and tell you what fits.
Home working in Wimbledon Park: local notes
Homes built before 1919 make up about 42% of the housing in the streets around Wimbledon Park, with about 19% built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how home offices are fixed and fitted. 14 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of central Wimbledon Park. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Merton are set locally. Where a street in Wimbledon Park is controlled, a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension from the council. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
For a family home near Albemarle Primary School, a built-in desk can be shared between home working and homework. Living in a block of flats near Earlsfield station? Then the route in is measured along with the room itself, and the sections are sized to fit it. If you live near King George's Park, a desk facing a window makes the most of the daylight.

Fitting day, step by step
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together. The time the fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We measure the hall, stairs, doors and any lift not just the room, so home offices arrive in sections that fit through. We cover floors and doorways on the way in.
- You get in touch with some details about the room and the home it’s in.
- We visit to measure the room and the way in, and go through the design. It’s useful to tell us about parking, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish.
- The desk and shelving are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections that fit the route.
- We carry the sections in, assemble them in the room and fit them, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before fitting day
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
Getting a quote

Caring for painted furniture
A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. Here are our suggestions:
- Consider your chair when planning the desk
- Note what sits on and around your desk
- Think about what will sit on the shelves
- Choose a calm colour for a working room
Small marks on a hand-painted finish can be touched in. It’s worth keeping a record of the paint colour. If anything isn’t right with the furniture, use our contact form and we’ll talk it through.
Keep the chair from knocking the desk edge. Ease the chair in rather than pushing it hard. Minor chips can be touched up with the matching colour.
How we price fitted home offices
What it costs comes down to the materials and the time involved. That depends on:
- The width and height of the space
- The number of doors and drawers
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
What to send when you contact us
These details help when you get in touch:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Approximate measurements of the space
We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
