Fitted Home Offices in Wood Green
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on fitted home offices in Wood Green starts with a design visit, and everything is made at our workshop.
- Cables trailing across the desk and floor
- A screen that’s hard to read by the window
- A spare room that has to be an office and a guest room

Fitted home offices for homes in Wood Green
Working from home is easier when the desk, shelves and storage are built for the job. Our home offices are made for spare rooms, alcoves, landings and loft rooms, shaped by the way you work. In Wood Green, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. We make home offices from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and the things people most often want solved are a laptop that moves from room to room and a guest room that’s needed for work.
Older homes tend to have generous ceiling heights, and a large share of the homes around Wood Green date from then. Shelving can go up high above the desk, with the top shelves for things you rarely need. Some internal walls in older houses are lath and plaster, so fixings are chosen to suit.
We write quotes in plain English, without jargon. They say what will be made, what it is made from and how it will be finished, all taken from the design visit.

Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done on site once the office is in. Small marks are simple to touch in later. That suits a desk that sees daily use.
Doors and drawer fronts
Some home offices have doors that close over the whole desk. It suits a room that also has to work as a guest room or living room. The design visit is where we agree the doors.
Where other trades come in
It is worth being clear about where our work stops:
- Turning an unconverted loft into a room
- Knocking through or opening up rooms
- Connecting printers and screens

How fitting day works
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s typically only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. In a period home, the furniture is fitted to walls that are not straight, so there’s some trimming and adjusting on site. Floors are protected, and dust is kept down as far as possible. It is useful to let us know about parking at the measuring visit, as terraced streets are often busy.
- You get in touch and let us know how you work and where you’d like the office, including the equipment you use.
- We come to measure and work out where the desk, shelves and cable routes should go. New sockets are for your electrician, so it helps to think about them early.
- You receive a quote in writing for the office we’ve discussed.
- We make every part in our workshop, sized for the room and the route in, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home, scribed to the walls and set level, with cable routes left clear.
How to prepare
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
How to get a quote
It’s useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line tell us a lot about the space, along with rough sizes. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Pricing fitted home offices in Wood Green
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Spray painting or hand painting
- The overall size of the piece
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Getting in touch
Some details help us understand the job before we visit. When you get in touch, it’s useful to send:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- The type of home and how the room is reached
The quote is built from the design visit. We take full measurements, see how true the walls and floors are and work through the design together. A quote in writing follows the visit. To arrange the visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Your questions about fitted home offices in Wood Green
Is Wood Green in the area you cover for fitted home offices?
Yes. We cover all of Haringey and the rest of London, and Wood Green is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, and then we send a quote.
My home in Wood Green is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. Home offices are made at our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
How long is the fitting for a home office?
How long fitting takes depends on the layout and how many pieces make up the office, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Every part is made at our workshop before we arrive. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.
Can a home office go in a loft room?
Yes, where the loft has already been converted. The desk is placed where there’s headroom to sit and stand comfortably, with storage built into the lower parts of the slope. We don’t carry out loft conversions.
Can a desk be fitted into an alcove?
In many homes, yes. An alcove beside a chimney breast can take a desk with shelves above. It’s scribed to the alcove walls so it fits closely. At the design visit we’ll measure and tell you what fits.
