What it is made from
Moisture-resistant MDF
Doors and panels are made from moisture-resistant MDF. It stays stable and gives a smooth base for paint. It works with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Cupboard doors hide the clutter of working life. We make them plain or panelled, with handles to match. When you finish, the doors close on work.
Fitted home offices for homes in Tottenham Green
A fitted home office gives your work a proper place in the house. Our home offices are made for spare rooms, alcoves, landings and loft rooms, planned around how you work. In Tottenham Green, as everywhere we work, it begins with a visit to measure and plan. Typical reasons to get in touch are wires with no tidy route and no way to put work away; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
In an older house, sockets may be few and in tricky places, so the desk is planned around where they are, with routes for cables built in. Any new sockets are for your electrician, ideally before fitting day. Since a large share of homes around Tottenham Green date from before 1919, it is a common thing to plan for.
Everything we agree at the design visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Before and after fitting day
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Estimate the shelf space you’ll need
- Think about matching the woodwork or the walls
- Think about glare on your screen
- Note what sits on and around your desk
We run each drawer and open each door with you before we go. We will show you the cable routes and how they’re meant to be used. You will be ready to set up your desk.
Keep heavy loads on the shelves meant for them. We size shelves for what you told us they’d carry. Spread heavy books and files evenly.
Fitting day, step by step
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Parking on terraced streets can be tight, particularly in a controlled parking zone, so details of permits, bays and any loading restrictions help. Unloading is kept short, with sections taken straight inside. Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement.
- It starts with a short note from you about the space.
- We visit to measure the room and the way in, and talk through the design. It helps to tell us about parking, as much of London has controlled parking zones.
- We send a written quote.
- We build the office in our workshop, in sections, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The sections are brought in, joined and scribed to the walls, ready for work.
Before fitting day
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
How to get a quote
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, when we’ve measured up and talked through the design. To arrange a visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Flats, leases and landlords
Some blocks ask for notice before trades arrive, often through a building manager or concierge. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Mention it when you contact us.
A lot of London’s terraced houses are now converted flats, and that often means a shared hallway and a tight turn on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
FAQs: fitted home offices in Tottenham Green
My house in Tottenham Green is Victorian. Can you deal with uneven walls?
Yes, that’s normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. We also work around skirting boards, picture rails and cornices. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.
Can you fit a desk under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, in a loft that’s already converted. We place the desk so you can sit and stand without hitting the slope, and the low space under the slope can hold storage. We do not carry out loft conversions.
How long is the fitting for a home office?
How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Because everything is made in our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We work tidily and keep the room as clear as we can.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you get in touch.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. Span, depth and the weight on it decide whether a shelf sags, so a long run needs a thicker shelf, a stiffening lip or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
Cost matters, and it is fair to say so: flat-pack is normally cheaper to buy. Bespoke makes more sense where the room is awkward, the space is valuable or you want the furniture to look built in.
