Loft storage in Bexleyheath
About our loft storage in Bexleyheath
Many loft rooms are bedrooms, and storage for clothes is the first need. Wardrobes under the slope, drawers in the knee wall and shelves in the dormer can all work together. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. We design them around what you need to store in Bexleyheath. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are no wardrobe that fits under the slope and boxes and suitcases with no home.
Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. With interwar houses, semis and detached homes a large part of the housing around Bexleyheath, well-planned storage by the door or under the stairs can take a lot of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.
The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the eaves cupboard designed for your room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Materials and finishes
Birch plywood
Drawers in the knee wall can carry heavy things, from boxes to bedding. Birch plywood suits them, as it is strong and holds screws well. It works well for longer shelves too.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Moisture-resistant MDF is stable and takes paint well. It’s used for the doors, fronts and side panels, where a smooth, even finish matters.
Where other trades come in
We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Approval for structural changes
- Building work to turn a loft into a room
- Any work on the structure of the house
If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can use our contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.

DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, which leaves standard units with gaps at the sides and top.
What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t normally do that in an older room.
Bexleyheath homes and loft storage
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 51% of the housing in the area around Bexleyheath, with about 19% built between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. The National Heritage List records 11 entries within half a mile of the centre of Bexleyheath. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. About 51% of homes in the neighbourhood around Bexleyheath date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Many interwar houses have had their lofts converted, leaving sloping ceilings and eaves to use.
The wider area includes historic houses like Red House, about 0.4 miles south-west. For a period home anywhere nearby, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. For families living near Upland Primary School, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. Near listed buildings like Red House, less than half a mile south-west of the centre of Bexleyheath, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

From workshop to your room
You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. Most of the decisions were made at the measuring visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Loft stairs in an interwar house can be tight, with a low ceiling at the top, so any section going up there is sized for them. The main stairs in houses of that age are normally straighter. Each section is assembled and fixed in the room.
- It starts when you contact us about storage in your loft.
- We visit to measure and look at what’s behind the knee walls.
- A written quote follows, with the fitting days agreed. You can ask us about any of it.
- Your storage is built in our workshop, shaped to the loft, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit it in your home and leave it ready to use.
Preparing the room
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall

Common questions about loft storage
Is Bexleyheath in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes. Bexleyheath is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Bexley and London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with some details.
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Bexleyheath station?
Yes, homes across Bexley and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can drop us a line using the contact form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
How long is the fitting for eaves storage?
How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, so the time at your home is spent fitting. If you’d like the fitting on a Saturday, that can be arranged.
Do photos help?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It’s useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
How much does loft storage cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The mix of cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and the finish, all play a part. Everything is set out in a quote in writing after the visit.
Do you carry out loft conversions?
No. We don’t carry out loft conversions. We design and fit storage once the room is in place, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
What it costs
Prices vary from room to room, for these reasons:
- Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
- Doors and drawers, and how many
- Parking and unloading on your street
Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it.
Getting in touch
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
You don’t need exact measurements to get started. We measure everything properly at the design visit. To get started, use our contact form and tell us about the room. You receive a written quote after the visit.
