Loft storage in Erith: eaves cupboards, drawers and wardrobes in converted lofts. We visit to measure and talk through the design, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it.
- Standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs
- A converted loft with no fitted furniture
- A boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised

Erith homes and loft storage
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Erith were built before 1919 (about 26%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 22%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. That matters for eaves cupboards, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. 4 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Erith. Historic England says England has around 10,000, and the controls mainly cover the outside of buildings. Many London boroughs run controlled parking zones, and Bexley sets its own rules. If your street in Erith is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension through the council may be needed. We ask about parking at the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
For a family home near Christ Church (Erith) CofE Primary School, eaves cupboards can be planned around what a family needs to keep, from coats and bags to sports kit. The wider area includes historic houses such as Hall Place and Gardens, about 2.3 miles south. For a period home anywhere nearby, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk. If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.
Erith is about 4 miles south-west of Sidcup, within the London Borough of Bexley. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Erith is part of that. Erith is one of the places in Bexley where we make loft storage, and the borough has 27 places on our list.
Here we cover the DA8, DA17 and DA7 postcode area for loft storage. Close by, we also work in Northumberland Heath (1 mile south), Bexley Riverside (1 mile south), Belvedere (1 mile north-west), Lessness Heath (1 mile north-west) and Barnehurst (1 mile south). Landmarks near Erith
We fit furniture in homes around Erith School, The Cross Keys pub and Trinity School, among other places. There is a railway station in Erith itself: Erith station. Well-known places in the area include Erith Museum (close by, under half a mile east) and Broadway Shopping Centre (1.9 miles south-west).
Loft storage in Erith
The low space behind a knee wall is often the most useful in the room. Eaves cupboards and pull-out drawers built into the knee wall put it to work. Pull-out drawers mean you don’t have to crawl in. We measure and plan for the space you have in Erith. If your home has seasonal things cluttering the loft room and low eaves that nobody can use, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Whether your home in Erith is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, there is normally a space that could work harder. Fitted storage can make it useful, with drawers, shelves, hanging or a seat depending on the space. Each wall is checked so the fixings suit it.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

What it costs
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- How many doors and drawers there are
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
- How square the room is
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. Doors, drawers, internal fittings and the finish make up most of the rest.
Helping us understand the room
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you get in touch, it’s useful to send:
- Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- Approximate measurements of the space
- Examples of the look you are after
- Where you live, with the postcode
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.
Flats, conversions and lettings
If the property is let, we will need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. We plan the size of each section around it.
Questions we are often asked
Do you cover homes near Erith station?
Yes. We cover all of Bexley and the rest of London. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with some details about the room.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Erith?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Which materials go into your loft storage?
Our loft storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then painted. Stable materials suit a loft, where temperatures can vary. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Do you carry out loft conversions?
No. Our work is storage in loft rooms that are already converted, or in boarded lofts. A conversion is building work, and Building Regulations apply. Once your loft is converted, we can design the storage.
Can you get furniture up narrow loft stairs?
We measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft room. We size every section for the tightest turn, and then assembled in the loft.
Is it possible to fit a wardrobe under the slope?
Yes. We shape the wardrobe to follow the slope, with hanging at the tall end and shelves or drawers lower down. It makes the most of the space. We plan it at the measuring visit.
How it is made
Pull-out drawers
Pull-out drawers bring the back of the eaves within reach. We size each drawer for what you plan to keep in it. They suit clothes, bedding and boxes.
Birch plywood
We use birch plywood where strength matters. It goes into the carcasses, the drawers and the shelves. Its layered edge can be shown or painted.
Honest limits
Our work is the furniture itself: designing it, making it in our workshop and fitting it. That means:
- Building Regulations approval for a conversion
- Converting the loft itself, which is not our work
- Electrical work in the loft
Not sure whether your space suits loft storage? You can drop us a line using the contact form and we will tell you before you arrange a visit. How it works.

How fitting day works
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and explain how to look after the paint. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you live in a block, check any rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours; if you live in a house, let us know about steps, paths and parking. We plan the details of the day during the design visit. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- We visit to measure the slopes and eaves and talk through cupboards, drawers and wardrobes under them.
- A written quote follows, with the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Preparing the room
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
Arranging a design visit
Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. To book a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
