Loft storage for homes in Bow
Each eaves cupboard is built in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which suits drawer boxes and carcasses, while MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. It is then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Bow. People typically come to us about unused space in a dormer and low eaves that nobody can use, and the answer is made in our workshop from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
In a home built since 2000, there are often spaces the builder left plain, like a recess, a landing corner or an empty cupboard. Many homes around Bow date from 2000 onwards, and fitted storage can make spaces like that far more useful. The layout inside is planned to use the full depth.
Once you’ve read the quote and decided to go ahead, the furniture is made at our workshop. It describes the design, the materials and the finish agreed at the visit, so you can check every detail beforehand.

FAQs: loft storage in Bow
I live near Hackney Wick station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Bow?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Do you do the loft conversion too?
No, the conversion itself is not our work. Our part is the storage once the loft is a finished room, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
How do you get large pieces into a loft?
We measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft room. We size every section for the tightest turn, and the pieces are put together in the room.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. We are carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.
What if my walls and floors are out of level?
It’s something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.
What happens on fitting day
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it’s going into, and fitting day is where that happens. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Newer homes often have stud walls, so fixings go into the studs or use fixings made for the board. Floors are covered while we work.
- You let us know about your converted or boarded loft, including the eaves and any dormer.
- At the design visit, the room and the route up are measured, as everything has to get up there.
- The design is agreed and a written quote follows.
- Every part is made at our workshop, ready for a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. It is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The storage is fitted, scribed to the slopes and checked with you.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture

Advice
What prompts loft storage in Bow
Standard wardrobes don’t fit under a sloping ceiling. Bespoke wardrobes follow the slope. It’s a common need in a loft bedroom.
Loft storage can help with:
- A dormer that is not being used
- Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
- A loft room with too many jobs
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
For a flat near Hackney Wick station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Choosing a carpenter
- Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
- How they deal with uneven walls and floors
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- Where they’ll park and unload

Making use of awkward spaces in Bow
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Bow were built since 2000 (about 44%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 20%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Bow include Phoenix School (Grade II*), less than half a mile south, and Church of St Mary Stratford Bow (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can need listed building consent. Check with the council’s conservation officer first. Controlled parking zones cover much of inner London, and each borough runs its own. For fitting in Bow, a van usually needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. We ask about parking at the design visit, so the van can be planned for.
For a family home near Old Ford Primary - A Paradigm Academy, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. If you live near Grove Hall Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.

Around Bow
Around Bow, we cover homes near Mulberry UTC, Mulberry UTC and Lord Tredegar Public House. Bow’s nearest station is Hackney Wick station, roughly 0.9 miles north. Well-known places in the area include St Clement's Hospital (less than half a mile south) and Westfield Stratford City (1.3 miles north-east). Green spaces nearby include Old Ford Island.
Before and after fitting day
Most of what helps is simple. What we’d suggest:
- Note any vents or insulation in the eaves
- Note how narrow the loft stairs are
- Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
- Think about how you’ll reach into the eaves
Wiping the fronts with a soft, damp cloth is usually all they need. Dry them afterwards, and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents. The edges around handles are touched most.
Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they don’t knock the paint. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.
Pricing loft storage in Bow
Several things affect the price:
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- How big the furniture is
We don’t publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, fill in our short enquiry form.
What to send when you contact us
Getting a few details early makes the visit more useful. If you can, send:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Pictures of styles you like, if you have any
- How you want to use the space
It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To send them over, fill in our short enquiry form, and we will suggest a time for a design visit.
