Old Ford Loft Storage
Eaves cupboards, drawers and wardrobes in converted lofts, for homes in Old Ford. We make each piece in our workshop and fit it in your home.

- Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
Loft storage designed for your room
How fitting works for loft storage
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and answer any questions. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Before fixing into a stud wall, we check for pipes and cables, with heavier pieces tied into the studs. Other trades handle any new sockets or plumbing, ideally before fitting day.
- You get in touch with some details about the loft room, whether it is a converted room or a boarded space.
- At the design visit, we look at the slopes, the eaves and the way up.
- Your quote sets out the design, the materials and the finish. You can ask us about any of it.
- We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop, cut to the slope.
- The storage is fitted and set level, ready to fill, with the doors and drawers checked with you.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Clear the area where the furniture is going
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
Arranging a design visit
We quote once we’ve seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. To book a design visit, message us from the contact page.
Advice
Loft storage in Old Ford
Each eaves cupboard is made at our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood gives the carcasses and drawers their strength, while MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. It is then spray-painted or hand-painted and fitted in your home in Old Ford. Most enquiries start with unused space in a dormer and a loft room that still feels unfinished, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
A large share of the homes around Old Ford date from 2000 onwards, and newer houses that have had the loft converted often have sloping ceilings and eaves to use. We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. Wherever they go, eaves cupboards are fixed to suit the wall.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

More for homes in Old Ford
Is bespoke worth it?
If you only need a few boxes in a boarded loft, standalone shelving may be enough. Bespoke work makes sense in a converted loft room, where the storage is part of the room. We will give you an honest view at the design visit. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, whereas fitted pieces can be as shallow as the space needs. It still uses the full height.
Getting to the room affects the job as well. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections. We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit.
Why choose us
- Fitted tight to walls that are not straight
- Saturday visits and fitting by arrangement
- Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
- A spray or hand-painted finish

Loft storage in Old Ford: local notes
In the area around Old Ford, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 49%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 16%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Old Ford include Church of St Mary Stratford Bow (Grade II*), about 0.5 miles south-east, and Phoenix School (Grade II*), about 0.6 miles south. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, may need listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. If you live on or close to a main road in Old Ford, let us know at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.
If your children go to Mulberry UTC or a school nearby, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up. The wider area includes historic houses such as Sutton House, about 1.5 miles north-west. If your own home is a period one, a dormer in a converted loft can hold shelves or a small desk.

Why people ask for loft storage in Old Ford
A new loft conversion often needs storage to finish it. The room is there, but the furniture to fit it is not. Fitted storage finishes the room.
Loft storage can help with:
- Boxes piled on loft boards
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- A sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe
- Wasted space behind the knee walls
For an older house near St Paul Old Ford, sloping ceilings in a loft room suit wardrobes cut to the angle.
What to check before you book
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- How they handle walls that aren’t straight
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
Your questions about loft storage in Old Ford
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Old Ford?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.
I live near Hackney Wick station. Is that in your area?
Yes. We cover all of Tower Hamlets and the rest of London. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
Can you build a wardrobe under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. The wardrobe follows the angle of the ceiling, with hanging where there’s height. It makes the most of the space. We’ll work out the layout when we visit.
Can you fit furniture to uneven walls?
Uneven walls are normal in older London homes, and the furniture is made to deal with them. We scribe the edges to follow the wall and set the furniture level on adjustable feet or a plinth.
Does fitted furniture need planning permission?
Not usually. Conservation areas mostly control changes to the outside, and furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need it. In a listed building, check with the council’s conservation officer before any work.
How much does loft storage cost?
Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. The mix of cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and the finish, all play a part. We set it all out in a written quote.
DIY, flat-pack or bespoke
The real difference is in the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths.
What affects the price in Old Ford
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:
- The finish: spray painted or hand painted
- The width and height of the space
- Where a van can park, such as a permit bay or a bay suspension
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
Every room is priced on its own, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
What we need to know
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. When you get in touch, it’s useful to send:
- Approximate measurements of the space
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- How you want to use the space
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us a little about the room. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a written quote follows.
