Questions from Brent Cross
Do you make loft storage for homes in Brent Cross?
Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London, and Brent Cross is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.
I live near Brent Cross West station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Barnet and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can send us a few details through our contact form with some details about the room, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
How long is the fitting for eaves storage?
How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Because everything is made in our workshop, the work in your home is the fitting itself. We keep the route up to the loft as clear as possible.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. To get a quote, send us a few details through our contact form and we will arrange a design visit.
Will the storage fit up my loft stairs?
We measure the stairs and landings as well as the loft room. We size every section for the tightest turn, and then assembled in the loft.
What are your eaves cupboards made from?
The storage is made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, and MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.
Loft storage in Brent Cross
Our work is in loft rooms that are already converted, or lofts that are boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. In Brent Cross, it all begins with a design visit. Typical reasons to get in touch are needing storage in a loft office and clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom, and the answer is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Much of the housing around Brent Cross is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so we still scribe every piece to the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we will tell you, so it can be arranged before fitting day. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Honest limits
Some parts of a job need another trade, like an electrician, a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Any work on the structure of the house
- Insulation or ventilation work behind the eaves
- Converting the loft itself, which isn’t our work
If in doubt, you can fill in our short enquiry form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. Our process from visit to fitting.
What it’s made from
- Eaves doors and drawers
- Hand-painted finish
- Spray-painted finish
- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Birch plywood
- Sloped wardrobe tops
Before and after fitting day
Fresh paintwork takes a while to cure fully, so go gently with it for a while. Beyond that, these tips help:
- Count the clothes you’ll need to hang
- Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Choose a calm colour for the loft
Once the fitting is done, the storage is ready to use. New paintwork takes time to cure fully, so go easy on it to begin with. Avoid sticky tape, heavy knocks and harsh cleaners while it hardens.
Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they don’t knock the paint. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.
Is bespoke worth it?
Standard furniture doesn’t allow for the insulation and ventilation behind the eaves. Bespoke storage is designed so it does not block ventilation or squash insulation. It helps keep the space in good order. In an extended or opened-up house, old and new walls often meet slightly out of line, and straight-sided ready-made units make that obvious. Fitted pieces are scribed to both.
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Fitted storage in Brent Cross
About 40% of the homes in the area around Brent Cross went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 31% before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Brent Cross include Penfold House (Grade II), less than half a mile north, and Hendon Central Underground Station (Grade II), about 0.5 miles north-west. Listing covers the inside of a building as well as the outside, so works that affect a listed home’s character, like removing original joinery, can require listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Barnet are set locally. If your street in Brent Cross is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay through the council may be needed. Let us know about parking during the design visit.
If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church Hendon, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. If you live near Clarefield Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

What happens on fitting day
You are welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so the day itself is about careful fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the length of the eaves and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.

Advice
Why people ask for loft storage in Brent Cross
Some people want to make more of a dormer. Built-in furniture in a dormer puts it to work. It adds storage without crowding the room.
Here are some of the needs we’re asked about most:
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
- Boxes piled on loft boards
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- Low eaves that nobody can use
For a flat near Brent Cross West station, eaves cupboards are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.
Before you choose who makes it
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Can you see real work of theirs?
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- How doors and drawers are fitted
