Your questions about loft storage in Brent Park

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Brent Park?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Do you cover homes near Stonebridge Park station?

Yes. We cover all of Brent and the rest of London. You can send us a few details through our contact form to arrange a design visit.

Will cupboards in the eaves stop air moving?

Not when it’s planned well. At the design visit we check what’s there and leave the space it needs. We do not alter insulation or vents.

Should I send pictures?

Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.

How long is the fitting for eaves storage?

The time the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Every part is made in our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

What materials do you use for loft storage?

We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. Birch plywood gives strength to the carcasses and drawers, while the doors and panels are MDF, which paints well. Everything is finished by spray painting or hand painting.

Loft storage in Brent Park

Getting furniture up to a loft room is part of the planning. We measure the route not just the room, so every section made in our workshop fits up the stairs. It is part of the job for any loft room in Brent Park. Typical reasons to get in touch are a new loft conversion that needs storage and an empty dormer that could hold shelves, and the answer is built in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

An interwar house tends to have truer walls than a Victorian one, though rarely square corners. Much of the housing around Brent Park is interwar, semi-detached or detached, and every piece is still scribed where it meets the wall. Lids, doors and drawers are set level on site so they run true.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the eaves cupboard we have designed for the room, what it is made from and how it is finished, and the workshop works from it.

How we price loft storage

There’s no set price, because there is no set room. What affects it comes down to:

  • How big the furniture is
  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • The internal fittings

Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose.

What we need to know

Some details help us understand the job before we visit. It is useful to include:

  • Rough measurements: width, height and depth
  • How you want to use the space
  • A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
  • Your postcode and the borough

To make a start, drop us a line using the contact form and tell us a little about the room and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and discuss the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Brent Park homes and loft storage

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Brent Park were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 34%) and since 2000 (about 27%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how eaves cupboards are fixed and fitted. Part of Brent Park is in a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. Controlled parking zones are run by the boroughs, so the rules in Brent are set locally. If parking near you is controlled, a visitor permit or a bay suspension may be needed, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. We ask about parking at the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Close to St. Raphael's Edible Garden? Living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place. If you live in a period home close to Church of St Mary, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.

Do you need loft storage in Brent Park?

Some people want to hide clutter in the eaves. Cupboards behind the knee wall hide them away. The room stays calm and clear.

Typical reasons people contact us include:

  • Standard furniture that will not go up the loft stairs
  • Boxes and suitcases with no home
  • A dormer that is not being used
  • Needing storage in a loft office

Living in a block of flats near Stonebridge Park station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Will the doors close with even gaps?
  • How they’ll get the furniture into the room
  • Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors

Our checklist for choosing a carpenter

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

In a loft room, walls and floors are seldom square. Ready-made pieces show the gaps. Our storage is scribed to the room and set level, so the lines look right. The spaces between doors, windows and radiators are seldom a stock size, so ready-made furniture often ends up in the wrong place. Built-in pieces are planned around those fixed points.

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. At the design visit, we work out what you need inside.

What you get with us

  • Built in our workshop and fitted in your home
  • A design visit, then a written quote
  • Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight

Read our comparison of bespoke and off-the-shelf or what a quote should include.

What we do not do

We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:

  • Altering the structure of the loft
  • Building Regulations approval for a conversion
  • Loft conversions, which we don’t carry out

If you’re not sure what’s possible in your room, you can get in touch through our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

What goes into it

  • Birch plywood
  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

What happens on fitting day

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so the day itself is about careful fitting. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in.

  1. You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
  3. A written quote follows, with the design, materials and finish.
  4. The storage is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
  5. On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
