Pricing loft storage in Copse Hill
We quote each job after the design visit, because no two rooms are the same. This is what makes the difference:
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- How many doors and drawers there are
How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.
Helping us understand the room
These details help when you contact us:
- A few photos of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- What the furniture needs to hold
- Where you live, with the postcode
- Any ideas or images you have saved

Loft storage in Copse Hill: what you get
Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Designed as one, they give the room calm, consistent lines. We design them around what you need to store in Copse Hill. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom and boxes piled on loft boards.
Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Copse Hill, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, fitted storage near the front door can take much of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.
A quote in writing follows the design visit. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Do you need loft storage in Copse Hill?
A dormer can feel like wasted space. Shelves, a desk or a seat in the dormer make it useful. It uses space that is otherwise empty.
Most of the enquiries we get are about needs like these:
- Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
- Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
If you live near Cottenham Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Loft storage in Copse Hill: local notes
In the neighbourhood around Copse Hill, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 34%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 33%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. There are 24 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Copse Hill. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and eaves cupboards can be designed to work around them. About 51% of households in the area around Copse Hill live in detached or semi-detached houses, the 2021 Census shows. A house like that usually has more rooms to plan around than a flat, and sometimes a driveway that makes unloading easier.
If your home is one of the older houses near Christ Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using. Near listed buildings like Southside House, under half a mile north-east of the centre of Copse Hill, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

Where other trades come in
We do not treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Anything that needs Building Regulations sign-off
- New sockets, lights or wiring, which are for your electrician
- Building work to turn a loft into a room
If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. Our process from visit to fitting.

How fitting works for loft storage
Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Semis and detached houses often have a front path or a side gate, which can make carrying in easier. We measure the path, any steps and the front door as part of the route. Floors, stairs and doorways are protected on the way in, and the sections are assembled in place.
- You contact us about storage in your converted loft.
- At the design visit we plan the storage and measure the stairs, landings and loft doorway. Tell us about parking too, as a van often needs a permit or a paid bay.
- A quote in writing follows, covering the design, materials and finish.
- Everything is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in sections small enough for the loft stairs.
- The sections go up the stairs, are assembled under the eaves and set level.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
- Let us know where the boiler and meters are
Getting a quote
We quote once we have seen the room. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a quote in writing. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To book a design visit, message us from the contact page.

Flats, conversions and lettings
Many London terraces have been converted into flats, which often brings a shared hall and tight turns on the stairs. Each section is sized with that in mind, after measuring the route at the measuring visit.
For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.
Questions we are often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Copse Hill?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the measuring visit.
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Can you add sockets inside the units?
No. Electrical work is not something we do; it is a job for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design.
Can I send photos before the visit?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, like radiators or sockets.
What if the wall is cold or damp?
It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. Damp treatment is not something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
How much does loft storage cost?
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. It depends on how much storage you want, the shape of the room and the finish. For a quote, get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit.
