Loft storage for your home in Kingsbury
Loft storage in Kingsbury: what you get
We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. The conversion itself isn’t our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. If you have a converted loft in Kingsbury, the design visit is the first step. People normally come to us about low eaves that nobody can use and boxes and suitcases with no home, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Kingsbury, the hall is often wide enough for coat and shoe storage. Bays at the front suit a seat with storage below, with a grille where there is a radiator underneath. Eaves cupboards are measured and made for the house you have.
If the job needs another trade, such as an electrician or a plumber, we’ll tell you. The quote itself covers our work, from the design to the materials and finish.

Looking after your furniture
Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after with a little care. A few things help it stay looking good:
- Think about hanging space for a loft bedroom
- Measure the loft stairs, the turns and the landing
- Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both
- Let us know about parking near your home
Before we leave, we check every door and drawer with you. If there’s an access door to the eaves, we make sure it opens fully. You’ll know it all works as it should.
Avoid overloading drawers so they keep running smoothly. A quick sort every so often helps. Keep the heaviest things near the floor.
Materials and finishes
Pull-out drawers
Drawers that pull out make the eaves easy to use. Everything is in view when the drawer is open. They’re designed around any access points behind the knee wall.
Spray-painted finish
Spray painting suits angled panels and plain fronts alike. It’s carried out in the workshop for an even coat. The colour is your choice.

Storage in Kingsbury homes: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Kingsbury were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 77%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 16%), based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Near the centre of Kingsbury, Historic England’s list includes Kingsbury Manor (Grade II), under half a mile north. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features such as panelling can require listed building consent. The council’s conservation officer is the person to ask before work starts. More than half of the homes in the streets around Kingsbury (about 77%) date from between 1919 and 1939, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Many interwar houses have had their lofts converted, leaving sloping ceilings and eaves to use; we build the storage once the loft is converted or boarded.
If you live near Roe Green Park, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things. For a flat near Hendon station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. For a family home near Kingsbury Green Primary School, a place for each person’s coat and shoes stops the hallway filling up.

What happens on fitting day
Finishing comes last. With a spray finish from the workshop, there’s usually only filling and touching up to do in the room; hand painting, if that’s what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- The storage is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, cut to the angles we measured.
- We fit the storage in the loft, trimming the edges so they meet the ceiling neatly, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Before fitting day
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
Ask for a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: the room, rough measurements and some pictures if you have them. When you are ready, fill in our short enquiry form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a written quote.

Where other trades come in
Not everything around loft storage is carpentry, like an electrician, a plumber or a Gas Safe engineer. Here is what to bear in mind:
- Fixing damp or ventilation problems in the eaves
- Electrical work in the loft
- Any work on the structure of the house
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. How a job runs, step by step.

- Moisture-resistant MDF
- Hand-painted finish
- Sloped wardrobe tops
- Eaves doors and drawers
Flat-pack or bespoke?
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Standard units come in set widths and heights, so there is usually a gap left over at the top or at one end. Fitted furniture is made to the room’s measurements, so it can use the full height and width.
Questions from Kingsbury
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Kingsbury?
It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Do you make loft storage for homes in Kingsbury?
Yes, we work across Brent, Kingsbury included, and across the rest of London. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
How long does it take to fit loft storage?
The time the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Every part is built in our workshop before we arrive. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
How do you get large pieces into a loft?
Measuring the route is part of the design visit. We size every section for the tightest turn, and the pieces are put together in the room.
Which materials go into your loft storage?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. The carcasses and drawer boxes are birch plywood, which is strong and holds screws well, and MDF takes paint well for the doors and panels. The finish is spray-painted or hand-painted.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.
