Loft storage in Park Royal
How we make loft storage for Park Royal
Loft stairs are often narrow and steep, with tight turns. We measure the route not just the room, so every section made in our workshop fits up the stairs. It is part of the job for any loft room in Park Royal. If you are living with standard furniture that won’t go up the loft stairs and a loft room with too many jobs, that’s what eaves cupboards are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
A large share of the homes around Park Royal date from 2000 onwards, and in a newer house with a converted loft, the eaves and slopes are worth using. For lofts, the storage goes into spaces that are already converted or boarded. Wherever they go, eaves cupboards are fixed to suit the wall.
The quote names the materials: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Flats, leases and landlords
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising during the design visit.
Bespoke loft storage or ready-made?
Off-the-shelf pieces come in the maker’s finishes. Ours is spray-painted or hand-painted in a colour agreed with you, so it sits with the rest of the room. Large standalone pieces don’t always fit the lift or the hallway, while fitted furniture comes in sections sized for the route. It’s then assembled and fixed in the room.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
Why choose Bespoke Carpentry in Park Royal
- A design visit, then a quote in writing
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Workshop-made and fitted by us
- A spray or hand-painted finish

The problems loft storage solve
Standard wardrobes don’t fit under a sloping ceiling. Bespoke wardrobes follow the slope. It’s often the main reason people get in touch about a loft bedroom.
Most of the enquiries we get are about needs like these:
- Wasted space behind the knee walls
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- A dormer that isn’t being used
- A loft room that still feels unfinished
If your home is one of the older houses near St Gabriel's Church, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.
Before you choose who makes it
- Do they scribe the furniture to the walls?
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Where they’ll park and unload
- Will the quote be in writing?
Park Royal homes and loft storage
About 57% of the homes in the streets around Park Royal went up since 2000, and about 19% between 1919 and 1939, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 4 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Park Royal. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. About 57% of homes around Park Royal were built since 2000, well above the figure for Ealing as a whole, about 18%, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Newer homes often have stud walls and compact rooms, so fixings and sizes are planned with that in mind.
If your children go to West Twyford Primary School or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can give school bags, shoes and sports kit a proper home. If you live near St. Raphael's Edible Garden, eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Pull-out drawers
The space behind a knee wall is deep and low, so drawers that slide out are often the answer. Everything is in view when the drawer is open. We plan them around any access the eaves need.
Doors and drawer fronts
Fronts are made from moisture-resistant MDF and painted to your colour. Angled fronts are cut to follow the slope, so the gaps stay even all the way along.
What happens on fitting day
However carefully a piece is made in the workshop, it still has to meet the room, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Newer homes often have finished floors, painted walls and new doors that mark easily, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Corners and door frames are covered as well. Once inside, the pieces are joined in place.

Common questions about loft storage
Is Park Royal in the area you cover for loft storage?
Yes, we work across Ealing, Park Royal included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details.
Does a conservation area in or near Park Royal affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
What happens at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and go through the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a written quote.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. The mix of cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, and the finish, all play a part. Everything is set out in a written quote after the visit.
Can you get furniture up narrow loft stairs?
Measuring the route is part of the design visit. We size every section for the tightest turn, and the pieces are put together in the room.
Do you do the electrics?
No. We’re carpenters, so electrical work is for your electrician. We can plan cable routes into the design, and any new sockets are best done before fitting day.
