We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Building work to turn a loft into a room
  • Electrical work in the loft
  • Structural changes, like cutting into rafters or joists

If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

What it’s made from

  • Hand-painted finish
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Sloped wardrobe tops
  • Eaves doors and drawers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood

About our loft storage in South Harrow

We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. With the room in place, we can plan the storage. In South Harrow, it all begins with a design visit. If you’re living with a boarded loft that’s hard to keep organised and seasonal things cluttering the loft room, eaves cupboards made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish can solve it.

In an area where interwar homes or semis make up much of the housing, as around South Harrow, many have had the loft converted, leaving low eaves and sloping ceilings. Those spaces, along with bays and hallways, are where fitted storage can add the most. For lofts, we work in spaces that are already converted or boarded.

The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Fitted storage in South Harrow

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 45% of the housing in the neighbourhood around South Harrow, with about 21% built since 2000, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. The National Heritage List records 5 entries within half a mile of the centre of South Harrow. You can check whether a particular building is listed on Historic England’s list. About 45% of homes in the area around South Harrow date from between 1919 and 1939, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Loft conversions are common in houses of that age, and the eaves can take fitted storage; we build the storage once the loft is converted or boarded.

For an older house near Parish Church of St Paul, the knee walls of a converted loft can take drawers as well as cupboards. Near listed buildings like Parish Church of St Paul, less than half a mile west of the centre of South Harrow, older homes may keep original joinery that eaves cupboards can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

Common questions about loft storage

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Northolt Park station?

Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can get in touch through our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

Is parking a problem for fitting in South Harrow?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

How is loft storage priced?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. It depends on how much storage you want, the shape of the room and the finish. To get a quote, fill in our short enquiry form and we will arrange a design visit.

What happens during the design visit?

We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and discuss the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking.

My walls aren’t straight. Is that a problem?

It is something we deal with all the time. We trim the edges to follow the wall and level the base, so there are no gaps at the sides.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

Is it time for loft storage?

A sloping ceiling makes a standard wardrobe impossible. Bespoke wardrobes follow the slope. It is a common need in a loft bedroom.

A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:

  • A new loft conversion that needs storage
  • Ready-made wardrobes too big for the stairs
  • Needing storage in a loft office
  • A sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe

If your children go to The Welldon Park Academy or a school nearby, eaves cupboards can be planned around what a family needs to keep, from coats and bags to sports kit.

Before you hire any carpenter

  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • Which parts of the job need an electrician or a plumber
  • A quote in writing that sets out the job
  • Is it spray painted or hand painted?

Pull-out drawers

The space behind a knee wall is deep and low, so drawers that slide out are often the answer. Everything is in view when the drawer is open. We plan them around any access the eaves need.

Birch plywood

Knee-wall drawers often carry a real load. Birch plywood suits them, as it’s strong and holds screws well. It works well for longer shelves too.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

Ready-made wardrobes and cupboards are built for standard rooms. In a loft room, standard pieces leave tricky gaps under the slope. Storage made for the loft follows its shape. It is a bigger investment, and the gain is the space it uses. Off-the-shelf units come in set widths, so a run along a wall usually ends with a gap, so fitted furniture is made to the wall’s own length. It can use the full height too.

How it’s painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.

What happens on fitting day

If anything comes up on the day, just ask. Most of the decisions were made at the design visit and set out in your quote, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving the room tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Interwar houses usually have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, but the route in is still measured, not just the room. Eaves cupboards arrive in sections and are assembled in place, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You tell us about the loft room.
  2. We come to measure and talk through the design and finish.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We make the cupboards and drawers in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The storage is fitted and scribed to the slopes, and any hand painting is done on site.
  6. Fresh paint needs time to cure, so use the doors and drawers gently at first.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know where the boiler and meters are
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician in advance
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to
