Loft Storage in Little Stanmore

How we make loft storage for Little Stanmore

Loft rooms are often bedrooms, so storage for clothes matters. A wardrobe under the slope, knee-wall drawers and dormer shelves make a complete set. Planned together, they make the room feel ordered. For a home in Little Stanmore, it’s planned around your things. We make eaves cupboards from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and people most often get in touch about clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom and an empty dormer that could hold shelves.

Coats, shoes, bags and the vacuum cleaner all need somewhere to go in a family house. Around Little Stanmore, where interwar homes, semis and detached houses make up a big part of the housing, fitted storage near the front door can take much of it. Meters and fuse boards stay easy to reach.

Everything we agree at the measuring visit goes into the written quote: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it is easier before the furniture is made.

Do you need loft storage in Little Stanmore?

Some people have a boarded loft and want proper shelving. Shelves and cupboards keep things off the floor and easy to find. It’s ideal for things you need now and then.

People usually get in touch with us about things like these:

  • Clothes with nowhere to go in a loft bedroom
  • Space under the eaves going to waste
  • Nowhere to store bags and boxes
  • A dormer that isn’t being used

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Church of St Lawrence, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features.

What to check before you book

  • How the furniture will be finished, and where
  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Can you see real work of theirs?
  • A quote in writing that sets out the job

Looking after your furniture

Painted fitted furniture is easy to look after. A few things help it stay looking good:

  • Let us know about parking at the measuring visit
  • Make room so the whole loft can be measured
  • Think about what will go in each cupboard or drawer
  • Decide whether you’d prefer drawers, cupboards or both

Keep the ventilation behind the eaves clear. Leave the gaps we’ve designed in. It helps keep the loft in good order.

Sharp edges and heavy boxes can chip a painted edge. Put tools in a case so they do not knock the paint. A small chip on a hand-painted finish is easy to touch in.

How we price loft storage

Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. This is what makes the difference:

  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room

Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Tell us about parking at the design visit.

What to send when you get in touch

A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:

  • Any ideas or images you have saved
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
  • The type of home and how the room is reached

The quote is built from the design visit. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a quote in writing, so you can take your time with it. To arrange the visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.

How fitting day works

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly, and then we check it all again. How long fitting takes depends on the shape of the room and the number of cupboards and drawers, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Hand-painted furniture can be finished on site; spray-painted pieces arrive finished from the workshop. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about your converted or boarded loft.
  2. At the design visit we measure the knee walls, slopes and stairs and plan the storage with you, including the headroom under the slope.
  3. A quote in writing follows, with the design, finish and fitting days set out.
  4. The cupboards and drawers are made in our workshop, in sections sized for the loft stairs.
  5. We carry it up, fit it and leave it ready to use, with the finish sprayed beforehand or painted by hand on site.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Empty the space we will be working in

How to get a quote

Getting a quote starts with some details: the room, rough sizes and some pictures if you have them. To send them, get in touch through our contact form. We’ll then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Common questions about loft storage

Do you make loft storage for homes in Little Stanmore?

Yes. We cover all of Harrow and the rest of London, and Little Stanmore is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Mill Hill Broadway station?

Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.

What do eaves cupboards cost?

The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. The size of the room, the amount of storage and the finish all shape the price. To get a quote, use our contact form and we’ll arrange a design visit.

Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?

It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. We don’t treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Should I send photos?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. If a Saturday works better for you, say so when you get in touch.

Storage in Little Stanmore homes: local notes

About 66% of the homes in the area around Little Stanmore went up between 1919 and 1939, and about 15% since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. For carpentry, the era of a house is a useful clue to how square its rooms are and what its walls are made of. Little Stanmore is partly covered by a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. Detached and semi-detached houses are home to about 53% of households in the streets around Little Stanmore, in the ONS Census 2021 figures. A house like that typically has more rooms to plan around than a flat, and sometimes a driveway that makes unloading easier.

Living in a block of flats near Mill Hill Broadway station? Then check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If you live near Canons Park, living near green space often means muddy boots, bikes and outdoor kit, and eaves cupboards can give those things a place.
