Loft storage in Wealdstone, Harrow
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make loft storage for homes in Wealdstone, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A new loft conversion that needs storage
- Boxes and suitcases with no home
- An empty dormer that could hold shelves
Need loft storage in Wealdstone?
Loft storage in Wealdstone: what you get
We build storage in lofts that are already converted or boarded. The conversion itself is not our work, and conversions come under Building Regulations. Once the room is finished, we can design storage to suit it. If you have a converted loft in Wealdstone, the design visit is the first step. Most enquiries start with a sloping ceiling with no room for a wardrobe and a loft room that doubles as an office or guest room, and the answer is made at our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Landings in houses from between the wars are often roomier than in a Victorian terrace, which can hold fitted storage for linen and spare bedding. Around Wealdstone, where interwar homes and semis are a big part of the housing, the landing is worth a look as well as the hall. If a boiler or cylinder sits there, it keeps its clearances and access.
The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

How it is made
Plinths and scribe strips
We trim scribe strips to the exact line of the wall and ceiling. They’re one reason fitted storage looks built in. At floor level, the plinth hides any slope in the floor.
Pull-out drawers
Drawers that pull out make the eaves easy to use. You see everything at once. We plan them around any access the eaves need.
What prompts loft storage in Wealdstone
Loft rooms that double as offices or guest rooms need places for things. Storage in the eaves leaves the main floor clear.
A few of the things people ask us to solve are these:
- Unused space in a dormer
- Furniture that can’t get up to the loft
- Nowhere to store bags and boxes
- A boarded loft with no proper shelving
Close to Headstone Manor Recreation Ground? Eaves cupboards can be designed to hold outdoor kit, from walking boots to picnic things.

Questions we are often asked
I live near Harrow & Wealdstone station. Is that in your area?
Yes, homes across Harrow and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Will a conservation area stop me having loft storage fitted in Wealdstone?
Normally not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Do you carry out loft conversions?
No. We do not carry out loft conversions. Our part is the storage once the loft is a finished room, from eaves cupboards to wardrobes under the slopes.
What do eaves cupboards cost?
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. It depends on how much storage you want, the shape of the room and the finish. For a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit.
What are your eaves cupboards made from?
Moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish. Both are stable, which matters in a loft room. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: spray painted or hand painted. Spray painting gives a smooth, even finish, and hand painting is easy to touch up.
Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple. Here’s what we suggest:
- Mention any parking rules on your street
- Choose a calm colour for the loft
- Check the route up to the loft
- Make room so the whole loft can be measured
Before we leave, we check every door and drawer with you. Any access to the eaves is checked so it still opens. You will know it all works as it should.
Don’t overfill drawers, as heavy loads strain the runners. It helps to clear out now and then. Heavy boxes are best kept low.
What happens on fitting day
When the fitting is done, we tidy the room and lift the floor protection. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together and answer any questions. The time the fitting takes depends on how much storage you want in the loft, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. It is useful to clear the room and the route before we arrive. On the day, we cover the floors first, then bring the sections in. Each piece is levelled, scribed where the wall wanders and fixed to suit the wall.
- You get in touch and describe the loft room, its slopes and any dormer.
- At the design visit we measure the knee walls and the angle of each slope at more than one point, as they’re rarely even.
- Your written quote sets out the storage and the finish.
- In our workshop we build each section from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood to follow the slope.
- On fitting day the units are set level and scribed to the slope and the knee wall, with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
Preparing the room
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
- Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
Starting with a design visit

Advice
Loft storage for homes in Wealdstone
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 37% of the housing in the area around Wealdstone, with about 29% built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Harrow included. It applies to the vans that deliver and fit furniture in Wealdstone, as it does anywhere else in London. We plan parking and access with you during the design visit.
Living in a block of flats near Harrow & Wealdstone station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. Headstone Manor, about 0.9 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, the low eaves and slopes of a converted loft are worth using.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so it is worth raising during the design visit.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Tell us about them during the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
