TV and media units for homes in Lambeth
Built-in TV and media units bring the screen, set-top boxes, speakers and cables together in one piece of furniture. Instead of a stand, a tangle of wires and a few odd shelves, the whole wall is designed at once. If you’re planning a TV unit in Lambeth, we start with a design visit to measure and talk through what you use. Most enquiries start with a TV that looks out of place in the room and speakers muffled behind doors; the furniture is made from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.
A large number of homes around Lambeth date from 2000 onwards, and in London many homes of that age are flats in newer blocks. In a compact new-build room, a shallower run of TV and media units can add storage without crowding the space. Boxing for pipes and risers is common in newer homes, and the furniture can be designed around it.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Boards, parts and paint
Plinths and scribe strips
The plinth raises the unit and hides a sloping floor. It can line up with the skirting.
Spray-painted finish
A sprayed coat covers edges and corners well and leaves no brush marks. You choose the colour at the design stage.
Honest limits
We do not treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Installing aerials, satellite dishes or broadband
- Structural changes to the wall
- Painting the walls and ceiling
If you are not sure what’s possible in your room, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Made for the room, or bought in a box?
An off-the-shelf TV stand is cheaper and quick to buy. A stand is also simple to swap when technology moves on, which is a fair point in its favour. A built-in unit is planned for your room and your equipment. Large standalone pieces do not always fit the lift or the hallway, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections that fit. It’s then assembled and fixed in the room.
We don’t publish set prices, because every piece is designed for one room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing. To arrange a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

Questions we are often asked
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Lambeth?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.
My home in Lambeth is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the space and discuss the design, materials and finish. We also check the walls and floors and note radiators, sockets and other things in the way, and the written quote comes afterwards.
How do I get a quote for TV and media units in Lambeth?
It’s easiest to drop us a line using the contact form and tell us about the room. We then arrange a design visit, measure up and send a quote in writing.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You choose it. Whichever finish you pick, it’s in the colour you have chosen.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.

TV and media units for homes in Lambeth
Homes built since 2000 make up about 36% of the housing in the streets around Lambeth, with about 21% built before 1919, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. Entries on the National Heritage List near the centre of Lambeth include Woodstock Court (Grade II*), less than half a mile east, and Church of St Peter (Grade II*), under half a mile south. Where a home is listed, listed building consent can be needed for inside works that affect its character, like fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. About 78% of households around Lambeth live in purpose-built flats, well above the figure for the rest of London as a whole, about 52%, according to Census 2021. That puts the stairs, lifts and doors on the route in at the centre of the plan.
For an older house near St Peter's Church, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units. If you live in a flat close to Vauxhall station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. Benjamin Franklin House, about 1.2 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, picture rails and cornices give TV and media units a line to finish at.
Lambeth is about 2 miles south of Stockwell, within the London Borough of Lambeth. Our work covers every London borough and the City of London, Lambeth included. We cover places right across the rest of London.
We make TV and media units across the SE11, SW1P and SW8 postcode area. Whether you live on a street such as Gibson Road, Langley Lane and Randall Road or on one nearby, we can visit to measure up for TV and media units. Lambeth is near the A3203 and A3204, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you contact us. Nearby, we also make TV and media units in Vauxhall (1 mile north), Kennington (1 mile south), Oval (1 mile south), Newington Butts (1 mile east) and St George's Fields (1 mile north-east). Across the rest of the rest of London, our area takes in Stockwell (2 miles south), Streatham (4 miles south), West Norwood (4 miles south), Clapham (2 miles south-west), Brixton (2 miles south) and Loughborough Junction (2 miles south-east).
Landmarks near Lambeth
Our area takes in the homes around The Jolly Gardeners pub, Lilian Baylis Technology School and Lambeth Palace Library, among other places. There’s a railway station in Lambeth itself: Vauxhall station. A little further out are Evelina London Children's Hospital (0.5 miles north) and Baynard's Castle (1.7 miles north-east). Open spaces near Lambeth include St. James's Park Lake.
What it costs
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- The overall size of the piece
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- The internal fittings
Access to the room makes a difference too. Several flights of stairs, a small lift or a narrow hall can mean smaller sections and more carrying, and that is part of the price. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit.
Helping us understand the room
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. It is useful to include:
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- What you’d like to store or use the space for
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Radiators, sockets, pipes or meters on or near the wall
Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, and the written quote comes after. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To arrange a visit, message us from the contact page.
From workshop to your room
At the end, we tidy up and take up the floor coverings. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and answer any questions. The time the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Fitting day starts by covering floors and setting out the sections. Each piece is levelled and fixed to suit plasterboard or block. Any hand painting can be finished on site.
- You get in touch about a built-in TV unit.
- At the design visit, we measure the wall and plan the screen space, cable routes and ventilation with you.
- You receive a quote setting out the layout and the paint finish, for you to look over.
- We build the unit in our workshop, with routes and ventilation planned in, from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- Fitting day: the unit goes in, is levelled and scribed, and the cable routes are left clear. A hand-painted finish is done on site, if you chose one.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
