TV and Media Units in Tower Hill
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make TV and media units for homes in Tower Hill, each designed at a visit to your home.
- A cabinet that traps heat
- A screen at the wrong height
- Equipment with nowhere proper to go

What it costs
Every room is different, so every job is quoted on its own. These are the things that affect it:
- Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- How big the furniture is
- What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
The finish affects the cost: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. The written quote reflects your choice, along with the size and fittings.
What we need to know
Ahead of the design visit, we’ll typically ask about:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
To get a quote, tell us about the room on our contact form and tell us a little about the room and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and a quote in writing follows.
About our TV and media units in Tower Hill
TV units are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood. You choose a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, in a colour agreed with you. We work across London, including Tower Hill, after a design visit and a written quote. We make TV and media units from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the usual reasons to get in touch are boxes and consoles on the floor and nowhere good for speakers.
A large number of homes around Tower Hill date from 2000 onwards, and in a newer home the living space is normally open-plan, without a chimney breast. So TV and media units often give the room its shape, along a full wall or around the TV. Plasterboard stud walls are common in newer homes, so heavy pieces are fixed into the studs or stand on the floor.
The furniture is built in our workshop after you’ve had the quote and decided to go ahead. The quote sets out the agreed design, materials and finish, so you can check every detail beforehand.

How fitting day works
Getting everything level comes first. Where the floor slopes, we bring the furniture up to level on adjustable feet or a plinth, which keeps the lines straight. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. On the day, floors are covered first and the sections brought in. The pieces are levelled and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Hand-painted finishes can be completed once the furniture is in.
- You get in touch and let us know about the room and your equipment.
- We visit to measure the wall and discuss the design.
- You receive a written quote setting out the unit, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
- Each section is built in our workshop to the measurements we took, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We install the unit, leaving the cable routes and vents clear.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Keep pets in another room while we work
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
Starting with a design visit
If you know what you want, say so; if you don’t, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders
If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways as well as the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through without a struggle.
Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Let us know about them at the design visit, and we will plan the fitting around them.
TV and media units for homes in Tower Hill
The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Tower Hill were built since 2000 (about 49%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 23%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. There are 257 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Tower Hill. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Controlled parking zones cover much of inner London, and each borough runs its own. That usually means a van in Tower Hill needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. Parking is worth mentioning at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.
Living in a block of flats near London Fenchurch Street station? Then the route in is measured not just the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. The wider area includes historic houses like Mansion House, about 0.6 miles north-west. For a period home anywhere nearby, walls that bow and floors that slope are why TV and media units are scribed to fit rather than pushed into place.
Tower Hill is about 1 mile north-east of Whitechapel, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Anywhere in Tower Hill, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a written quote, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. We list Tower Hill among 31 places we cover in Tower Hamlets.
Here we cover the SE1, E1 and E1W postcode area for TV and media units. Streets in the area include Bush Lane, Swan Lane and Mark Lane, and we cover homes on all of them for TV and media units. Tower Hill is near the A3 and A10; on busy main roads, unloading TV and media units takes a little planning. We also cover Aldgate (1 mile north), Bishopsgate (1 mile north), Spitalfields (1 mile north), Whitechapel (1 mile north-east) and St George in the East (1 mile east). Other parts of Tower Hamlets we cover include Bethnal Green (2 miles north-east), Cambridge Heath (2 miles north-east), Mile End (2 miles north-east), Bow Common (2 miles east), Bromley (3 miles north-east) and Limehouse (2 miles east). As one of the bigger places in Tower Hamlets, Tower Hill is covered for TV and media units and everything else we make.

There’s a railway station in Tower Hill itself: London Fenchurch Street station. Other landmarks nearby include Gabriel's Wharf (1.3 miles west) and London Bridge Hospital (close by, under half a mile south-west). For a walk, there’s Ludgate Hill.
The problems TV and media units solve
Games, controllers and remotes need a home. Cupboards and drawers in the unit keep them in one place.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- Somewhere to keep games tidy
- Boxes with no ventilation
- Leads that show from every angle
- Speakers muffled behind doors
If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St Peter ad Vincula, the alcoves beside a chimney breast are the natural place for TV and media units.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
- How doors and drawers are fitted
- Whether they measure the room themselves
Common questions about TV and media units
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Tower Hill?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to let us know about parking during the design visit.
How do you fit TV and media units in a flat in Tower Hill?
We measure the route in as well as the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you get in touch.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
You can choose between two finishes: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.
How do I get started?
Simply fill in our short enquiry form. Rough sizes and a few pictures help, and then we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design.
