About our TV and media units in Spitalfields
A built-in TV unit gives the screen, the boxes, the speakers and the cables one planned home. The wall is planned as a whole, rather than a stand with wires trailing behind it. For a living room in Spitalfields, the first step is a design visit to measure up and look at your equipment. People usually come to us about a tangle of wires behind the TV and wasted space around the screen, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.
Internal walls in newer homes are normally plasterboard on metal or timber studs, and the board alone isn’t meant for heavy loads. Around Spitalfields, where many homes were built since 2000, that shapes how TV and media units are fixed: tall units stand on the floor and are tied into the studs, and shelves use fixings made for the board where there is no stud.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job. It also says how the furniture will be finished: spray painted or hand painted.

Questions from Spitalfields
Can you fit furniture in a home close to London Liverpool Street station?
Yes, homes across Tower Hamlets and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit, and let us know about parking and access at the same time.
Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Spitalfields?
It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to let us know about parking at the design visit.
Does someone need to be home during the fitting?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Do I choose the paint colour?
You do. The paint colour is agreed with you.
Can you plan for a future TV?
The space can be sized for a larger TV so the unit suits your next set. Tell us the size you might move to during the design visit.
What finishes do you offer?
There are two choices: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Fitting day, step by step
Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it is going into, and that happens on fitting day. Walls in older homes are rarely flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, closing the gaps a standard unit would leave. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. In a newer development, the lift, the concierge and set working hours may all need checking, so it is useful to sort them out ahead of time. The furniture is built in sections that fit the lift and doorways.
- You tell us about the room and what the unit needs to hold.
- We come to measure and talk through screen height, speakers and cables, with ventilation for boxes and amplifiers.
- We put the design, materials and finish into a quote in writing. If anything in it is unclear, ask us.
- Once you’re happy, the unit is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, with cable routes planned in.
- We bring it to your home and fit it in place, with the cable routes left clear.
Before fitting day
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- Move furniture and belongings away from the wall
- Tell us about parking near your home
How to get a quote
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Each room is different, so we quote after seeing it, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, send us a few details through our contact form.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Most stands have a cable hole or two at the back, but cables usually still show somewhere. We plan the cable routes into the design, with access left for later changes. Standalone furniture fixed to plasterboard needs the right fixings, and often doesn’t get them. Built-in pieces are designed with the right fixings from the start, and heavy pieces can stand on the floor.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Tell us about parking at the design visit.

Boards, parts and paint

Doors and drawer fronts
Drawers keep controllers and games tidy. They’re painted in the same colour as the rest.
Practical tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good. These practical tips help:
- Plan open spaces for anything controlled by a remote
- Decide where you’ll sit, so the screen height suits it
- Look at what the equipment makers say about airflow
- Note the size of each box and speaker
When you change equipment, use the cable routes we planned rather than drilling new holes. It keeps the unit tidy.
Tag each lead at both ends, so changes later are simple.
Honest limits
Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work are not part of what we do. Please bear these in mind too:
- Setting up and tuning the TV, boxes and speakers
- Aerial, satellite or broadband installation
- Repairing plaster or redecorating
If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How it works.
