Bespoke kitchens in Wembley
Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens well, because it stays stable and takes paint beautifully. For drawer boxes and shelves, birch plywood is a good choice. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in the colours you choose. If you are living with tall larder storage and a central island in a larger kitchen, that’s what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
A newer kitchen may have a wide glazed door or a big window on one wall, so storage has to be planned around the glass. With many homes around Wembley built since 2000, tall units and an island or peninsula can make up the difference. Wall cabinets are fixed into the studs or with fixings made for the board.
Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Could you do it yourself?
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. In a room with square walls and standard sizes, it can work well, and it is easy to buy.
Where bespoke earns its keep is in rooms that aren’t square. In period homes, walls lean, floors slope and the alcoves on each side are often different widths, and standard units leave gaps.
Questions we are often asked
Is parking a problem for fitting in Wembley?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit.
Is Wembley in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes. Wembley is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Brent and London. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details.
Do I need the building owner’s consent?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. Your lease is something we cannot advise on, so check it or ask your managing agent.
Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?
Not normally. Inside a house, fitted furniture doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings can need listed building consent for works that affect their character.
Is there room for an island in my kitchen?
Yes, where there’s space. At the design visit we check the clearances around it. If it would crowd the kitchen, we will say so.
Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?
Yes, that is part of the job. Few walls in a period house are straight, so we scribe and level every cabinet.
What happens on fitting day
At the end, we tidy up and take up the floor coverings. Before we leave, we go over the finished piece together. How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a newer home, floors, walls and door frames are often freshly finished, so everything on the way in is covered before the sections arrive. Door frames and corners get covers too. Once inside, the pieces are joined in place.
- You tell us about the room and how you use it.
- At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout. We note where the water, gas and sockets are now.
- A quote follows, covering the design and finish.
- We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician. We don’t arrange these trades ourselves.
Before fitting day
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
- Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
- Let us know about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Made-to-measure kitchens in Wembley
In the streets around Wembley, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 53%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 30%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Part of Wembley is in a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If you want to be certain, ask the council’s planning team. The ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) now covers the whole of London, Brent included. So any van that delivers or fits furniture in Wembley is covered by it. We go through parking and access during the design visit.

Do you need bespoke kitchens in Wembley?
A common reason is a room that ready-made units don’t fit. Standard units are made in fixed sizes, and the gaps get filled with panels. A bespoke kitchen is made to the room instead.
Some of the things we’re asked to solve are these:
- A kitchen finished in your colours
- Making the most of a galley kitchen
- An island where space allows
- A kitchen for a room that isn’t square
Close to Preston Park? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.
Before you choose who makes it
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether the finish is set out in the quote
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- How the doors are hung and adjusted
