TV and media units in World's End, Enfield

TV and media units for your home in World's End: built-in TV walls and media cabinets. Each piece is designed at a visit to your home, made in our workshop and fitted by us.

  • Equipment running hot in a closed cupboard
  • A tangle of wires behind the TV
  • Alcoves either side of the chimney breast going to waste

Ask about TV and media units in World's End

Do you need TV and media units in World's End?

Upgrading to a bigger screen is a common trigger. The old stand no longer suits it, or the screen takes over the room. Shelves and cupboards around the screen make it sit better in the room.

Most of the enquiries we get are about things like these:

  • Wasted space around the screen
  • Equipment running hot in a closed cupboard
  • A big screen that dominates the wall
  • Nowhere good for speakers

For families living near Grange Park Primary School, TV and media units can be planned with low cupboards for toys and higher shelves for everything else.

  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Whether you’ll get a quote in writing, not just a figure
  • Have they thought about parking near you?

TV and media units for homes in World's End

TV units are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood in our workshop. The finish is spray painted in the workshop or hand painted, in a colour agreed with you. We work across London, including World's End once the design and quote are agreed. We make TV and media units from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the usual reasons to get in touch are games, controllers and remotes everywhere and wasted space around the screen.

With interwar houses or semis a big part of the picture around World's End, many living rooms have been opened up to the dining room behind. That leaves a long room with a chimney breast on one side, which suits TV and media units along that wall. At the design visit we plan any cable routes and ventilation the room needs.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If something isn’t quite right, tell us before anything is made.

How it is made

Spray-painted finish

A sprayed coat covers edges and corners well. You choose the colour at the design stage.

Birch plywood

Long shelves under a screen need to stay straight. Birch plywood, sized for the span, keeps it flat.

From workshop to your room

You will not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and the room should already be cleared, as we will have talked about at the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. How long the fitting takes depends on the length of the TV wall and what it needs to hold, and the fitting days are set out in your quote. Interwar houses typically have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in not just the room. The furniture comes in sections and is put together where it is going, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You describe the TV wall and your equipment.
  2. We come to measure and talk through screen height, speakers and cables, with ventilation for boxes and amplifiers.
  3. We put the design, materials and finish into a written quote.
  4. We then make the unit in our workshop, with cable routes planned in.
  5. We bring it to your home and fit it in place, with the cable routes left clear.

Getting ready for fitting day

  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Clear the area where the furniture is going
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Ask for a quote

It is useful to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space, along with rough measurements. To send them over, fill in our short enquiry form, and we will arrange a design visit.

Tips worth knowing

A little care keeps the finish looking good, whether it was spray painted or hand painted. These practical tips help:

  • Note the size of each box and speaker
  • Check each box’s guidance on ventilation and clearances
  • Note the screen size you have or plan to buy
  • Check where the seating will go

Cupboard doors may settle slightly with use. Hinges can usually be adjusted to line them up again.

Tag each lead at both ends, so changes later are simple.

Questions we are often asked

Does a conservation area in or near World's End affect fitted furniture?

Not normally. Conservation area controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, internal works that affect its character may need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in World's End?

It can be, depending on whether your street is in a controlled parking zone. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It helps to tell us about parking at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Can you fit furniture on an external wall?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps to avoid condensation. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You do. We agree the colour with you before anything is painted.

Can you make TV and media units for a home in World's End?

Yes. Our area is the whole of London: every borough and the City of London, World's End included.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route as well as the room. That is why we measure the stairs, lift and doorways at the measuring visit.

Built-in living-room furniture in World's End

In the area around World's End, the largest groups of homes date from between 1919 and 1939 (about 51%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 21%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). That matters for TV and media units, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. World's End is partly covered by a conservation area, according to Historic England’s records. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are mainly about the outside of buildings. The council can confirm if you are not sure. All of London, Enfield included, is inside the ULEZ. Vans bringing furniture to World's End fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. We plan parking and access with you during the design visit.

The wider area includes historic houses like Forty Hall, about 2.4 miles north-east. If your own home is a period one, picture rails and cornices give TV and media units a line to finish at. Living in a block of flats near Grange Park station? Then TV and media units are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Flats, conversions and lettings

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an awkward room. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, finished by spray or by hand.

In a flat, the route in matters as much as the room. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so each section is sized to get through.
