About our bespoke kitchens in World's End

Older London homes are rarely simple places to fit a kitchen. Walls lean, corners are not square and floors slope, sometimes noticeably over a single run of units. We scribe the cabinets to the walls and set them level on adjustable feet or a plinth giving a level line for the worktop you choose. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a kitchen for a room that isn’t square and cabinets built around the appliances you choose.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around World's End, walls tend to be truer than in older houses, though nothing is assumed. Cabinets are scribed where needed and levelled on site. Gas work is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register, and the plumbing and electrics are for your plumber and electrician.

Where other trades are needed, for instance an electrician to move a socket, we point that out, so it can be arranged before fitting day. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

What happens on fitting day

Every fitting follows the same order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled, scribed to the wall and levelled. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturday fitting is possible by prior arrangement.

  1. We start with how you cook and what the kitchen needs to hold. Larders, dressers and islands can all be part of it, where space allows.
  2. We visit to measure and go through the design and storage. We note where the water, gas and sockets are now.
  3. We send a written quote setting out the cabinets, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
  4. The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. Fitting day: we fit the cabinets, and your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer handle the services.

Before fitting day

  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area

Ask for a quote

Getting a quote starts with a few details: the room, rough sizes and some photos if you have them. When you are ready, send us a few details through our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and go through the design, then send a quote in writing.

Why bespoke in World's End?

Ready-made kitchens are widely available and often cheaper, and in a square modern room they can work well. In an older house with uneven walls, they tend to need filler panels and leave gaps. A bespoke kitchen costs more but is made for the room. Off-the-shelf units come in set widths, so a run along a wall usually ends with a gap, so fitted furniture is made to the wall’s own length. It can also go up to the ceiling rather than stopping short.

Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension. It is useful to talk about parking at the design visit.

Kitchens in World's End: local notes

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 51% of the housing in the area around World's End, with about 21% built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Part of World's End is in a conservation area, going by Historic England’s data. Fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission in a conservation area, as the controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. The council can confirm if you’re not sure. Since the zone was extended to the outer boroughs in August 2023, the whole of London has been inside the ULEZ. That includes the vans that bring and fit furniture in World's End. Parking and access are planned during the design visit.

If your home is one of the older houses near St Peter's Church, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true. If you live near Oakwood Park, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. For a flat near Grange Park station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in World's End

Is parking a problem for fitting in World's End?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Is World's End in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes. We cover all of Enfield and the rest of London, and World's End is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. We’ll also ask about access and parking.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

Someone needs to be there to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room.

Who chooses the colour?

The choice is yours. Spray and hand-painted finishes both use the colour you have chosen.

Can I send pictures ahead of the visit?

Yes. Pictures help us understand the room before the design visit. Show anything the furniture has to work around, such as radiators or sockets.

Flat-pack or bespoke?

Bespoke work comes into its own in rooms that aren’t square. Older London rooms tend to have leaning walls, sloping floors and alcoves of different widths, and standard units leave gaps.

Long shelves are where off-the-shelf often struggles. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.

What we don’t do

We make and fit furniture, and we don’t do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:

  • Painting the walls around the kitchen
  • Any work on the gas supply
  • Connecting sinks, taps and dishwashers

If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.
