Walk-in Wardrobes in Crofton

Thinking about walk-in wardrobes in Crofton? It starts with a design visit to measure and talk through ideas, then a quote in writing, before anything is made.

  • Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
  • The right mix of long and short hanging
  • Somewhere to sit and get ready

Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Crofton

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Crofton

Several things affect the price:

  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
  • Tricky walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls
  • The finish: spray painted or hand painted

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

Helping us understand the room

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • What kind of home it is, and which floor the room is on
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Examples of the look you’re after
  • Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres

It helps to see the room before we come. Pictures of the whole wall, the corners and the ceiling line give us a good feel for the space. To share them, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

Walk-in wardrobes in Crofton

A box room is often too small for a bed but just right for a dressing room. Fitted out from wall to wall, it can take the clothes that crowd the bedroom, leaving the bedroom with more space. The layout leaves room to move and to see what you have. Most enquiries start with a walk-in wardrobe in a box room and a dressing table with drawers and a mirror, and the answer is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.

The front bedroom in many 1920s and 1930s houses sits above a bay, which leaves the side walls for storage and the bay for light. Around Crofton, a big part of the housing is interwar, semi-detached or detached, so it is a room shape worth planning for. Every wall is measured, as a room that looks square rarely is.

A quote in writing is the clearest record of what we have agreed. It describes the walk-in wardrobe we have designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

From workshop to your room

In older rooms, the furniture usually has to meet skirting, picture rails, cornice or coving. We cut and scribe the furniture around them on site, so it sits neatly against the room. The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Interwar houses usually have a straight run of stairs and a reasonable hallway, though we still measure the route in as well as the room. Walk-in wardrobes arrive in sections and are assembled in place, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and what you want to store. It could be a spare room, a box room or part of a bedroom.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through hanging, shelves and drawers.
  3. We send a quote that sets out the layout, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made at our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the walk-in wardrobe in your home, scribed to the walls and set level.

Before fitting day

  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Ask for a quote

We quote once we have seen the room. At the visit, we measure, look at the walls and floors and go through the design with you, and the written quote comes after. The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. To book a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Spray-painted finish

A spray-painted finish is applied in our workshop, giving a smooth, even surface.

Shelves

Shelves suit folded clothes, bags and boxes. Each shelf is sized for its load.

Bedroom storage in Crofton

The biggest shares of homes in the area around Crofton were built between 1945 and 1972 (about 57%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 31%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. The age of a home tells us a lot about its walls, floors and ceilings, and so about how walk-in wardrobes are fixed and fitted. Within a mile of the centre of Crofton, 4 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. About 57% of homes in the streets around Crofton were built between 1945 and 1972, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Post-war bedrooms are normally simple shapes, which suits fitted furniture along a whole wall, fixed to suit the wall.

For families living near Crofton Infant School, a mix of drawers and shelves copes with school uniform as well as everything else. If you live in a period home close to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. Living in a block of flats near Orpington station? Then walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

Questions we are often asked

Is parking a problem for fitting in Crofton?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.

Can you make walk-in wardrobes for a home in Crofton?

Yes, Crofton is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Bromley and the rest of London. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.

Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?

Yes, where the room is large enough. One end or a corner can be set aside with a run of units, with doors or left open. A new partition wall is building work, so that’s for your builder.

How do you get large furniture into a flat?

The furniture is built in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route not just the room.

Do I need to be in when you fit?

Someone needs to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

How long will the walk-in wardrobe take to fit?

The time the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. We will talk it through during the design visit.

Tips worth knowing

The finish lasts best with a little care. These practical tips help:

  • Sort through your clothes before the design visit
  • Plan shoe storage around what you own
  • Wipe painted surfaces with a soft, damp cloth
  • Decide on doors or open storage before we measure

New paintwork takes a while to harden after fitting. Treat the doors and drawer fronts gently at first and avoid harsh cleaners.

Plan any lighting with your electrician in good time. New lights and wiring are for them, and the units can be designed around the lighting.

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?

Open rail systems are simple and adaptable, which suits some people well. Bespoke joinery lets you mix doors, drawers, shelves and hanging, painted to match the room. Bays, box rooms and stair bulkheads are where off-the-shelf furniture struggles most, and interwar homes often have all three. Fitted furniture is made around them.

What goes inside matters as much as the outside: drawers take more making than shelves, and each rail, divider or pull-out adds to the work. We will talk through what you need inside at the measuring visit.
