About our walk-in wardrobes in Heath Park

With a walk-in wardrobe, clothes, shoes and bags have a space to themselves. We build them in spare rooms, box rooms and corners of bedrooms, fitted out with hanging, shelves and drawers. We make it all in our workshop and fit it in your home, scribed to the walls and set level. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and people most often get in touch about separate space for two people’s clothes and a built-in dressing table.

Bedrooms in interwar houses often have a picture rail but a plainer ceiling than a Victorian room, which makes it simple to take fitted furniture up to the ceiling. If yours is one of the interwar houses or semis that make up much of the housing around Heath Park, high cupboards make a good home for suitcases and spare bedding. Skirting boards are cut around neatly.

Our quotes are written in plain words. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish.

Bedroom storage in Heath Park

Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 48% of the housing in the streets around Heath Park, with about 16% built between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for walk-in wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Near the centre of Heath Park, Historic England’s list includes Frances Bardsley Lower School (Grade II), under half a mile north-west. For a listed home, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent from the council, for example removing or fixing into original panelling. It is worth speaking to the council’s conservation officer before the design is final. Red routes, run by TfL, have strict rules on stopping and loading. Where a home in Heath Park is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the design visit. That way we can plan where to load and unload.

For an older house near Saint Alban Church of England, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. For a flat near Gidea Park station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If you live near Haynes Park, keeping walk-in wardrobes off the window wall keeps the room bright.

Questions we’re often asked

Is Heath Park in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?

Yes, we work across Havering, Heath Park included, and across the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with some details.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Gidea Park station?

Yes. We cover all of Havering and the rest of London. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

What do you do at the measuring visit?

We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Let us know when you first get in touch.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture. If there’s damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

How much time does fitting need?

How long fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We will talk it through at the design visit.

What happens on fitting day

With the carcasses fixed and level, we hang any doors and fit any drawers or lids. We adjust each one so the gaps line up and it closes cleanly. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In a 1930s house with a converted loft, the stairs to the loft room are often steeper than the main flight, so pieces for a loft room are sized for the narrowest point. The main stairs in houses of that age are usually straighter. The pieces are joined and fixed once in place.

  1. You tell us about the room.
  2. At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling at several points, as few rooms are truly square.
  3. You receive a quote in writing covering the design, materials and finish.
  4. The units are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the units and trim the edges to meet the walls and ceiling.
  6. Before we leave we go through the doors and drawers with you; new paintwork needs gentle handling while it cures.

How to prepare

  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Empty the space we’ll be working in
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

Arranging a design visit

Rough measurements are fine at the start. Everything is measured properly when we visit, including how level the floor and ceiling are. To get started, fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room. The written quote follows the visit.

Is bespoke worth it?

Modular units are made in fixed sizes, so the space above and at the ends is often wasted. We can build right up to the ceiling and from wall to wall, so very little space goes to waste. In an extended or opened-up house, old and new walls often meet slightly out of line, which shows up against standard furniture. Built-in pieces are scribed to take up the difference.

How it is painted is part of the price: spray painting happens in the workshop, and hand painting can be done in your home. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Why choose us

  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Spray painted or hand painted, in the colour you choose
  • Workshop-made and fitted by us
  • Work across the whole of London

Take a look at our comparison of bespoke and off-the-shelf or what to look for in a quote.

Honest limits

Not everything around walk-in wardrobes is carpentry, from an electrician to a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:

  • Building work to create the room
  • Painting the walls of the room
  • Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers

If in doubt, you can use our contact form and describe the room. How a job runs, step by step.

Materials and parts

  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Shoe storage
  • Hanging, shelves and drawers
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Dressing table

Before and after fitting day

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Count your coats and long garments
  • Give the paint time to cure fully
  • Leave room for air behind hanging clothes
  • Think about whether you want doors

Let air move through the walk-in wardrobe, especially if it’s on an external wall. Leave a little space behind hanging clothes, so air can circulate.

If the room is on an external wall, have any damp sorted first. External walls can be colder and damper, so we allow for ventilation.

What affects the price in Heath Park

A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:

  • Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • What goes inside: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers
  • Stairs, lifts and the route to the room

No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.

What to send when you contact us

To help us picture the room, please include:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • Anything in the way, such as radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
  • Your postcode and the borough
  • Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift

The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. A quote in writing follows the visit. To arrange the visit, get in touch through our contact form.
