Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Kentish Town
How we make walk-in wardrobes for Kentish Town
We fit walk-in wardrobes in Kentish Town and across London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, then a written quote. Everything is built in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. People typically come to us about turning a box room into a dressing room and the right mix of long and short hanging, and the answer is made in our workshop from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted.
Purpose-built flats are home to most households around Kentish Town, and in a flat, bedrooms rarely have space to spare. Taking fitted furniture up to the ceiling adds storage without using more floor. The furniture is built in sections that fit the route into the flat, and assembled once it is inside.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

How fitting day works
Finishing comes last. If the furniture was spray painted in the workshop, we fill the fixing holes and touch up on site; hand painting, if that is what you chose, can be done in place once everything is fitted. Either way, the finish is the one set out in your quote. Loading near a block of flats can take some planning, so tell us about bays, permits or any loading area at the measuring visit. Once inside, the sections are joined and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You contact us about a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room.
- At the design visit we agree the layout and check how the units will reach the room.
- Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
- In our workshop we build the units in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

How to prepare

- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
Arranging a design visit
A quote begins with some details from you: the room, rough measurements and some photos if you have them. When you’re ready, use our contact form. After that, we arrange a visit to measure and talk through the design, then send a quote in writing.
Advice
How it is made
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home, once the units are fitted. It is easy to touch up later.
Birch plywood
Birch plywood is strong and holds screws well, which matters for drawers and long shelves. The edge can be left on show or painted.
Common questions about walk-in wardrobes
How do you fit walk-in wardrobes in a flat in Kentish Town?
At the design visit, we measure the way in as well as the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Will a conservation area stop me having walk-in wardrobes fitted in Kentish Town?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. If you’re unsure, the council can confirm.
What happens during the design visit?
We take full measurements, look at the walls and floors and work through the design together. Access and parking are worth talking about too.
Can you put a walk-in wardrobe in part of a bedroom?
Yes. We design the units to make a dressing area within the bedroom, and we fit the furniture once any building work is done.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
Someone needs to let us in at the start of the day. It also helps to have someone around at the end, so we can go over the finished furniture together.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
It can be done with some care: leaving ventilation behind and inside helps stop condensation. We do not treat damp, so any damp should be sorted before fitting day.

Fitted bedroom furniture in Kentish Town
The biggest shares of homes in the area around Kentish Town were built before 1919 (about 43%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 21%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. There are 117 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Kentish Town. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Parking on many inner London streets is controlled, with zones run by each borough. That typically means a van in Kentish Town needs a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council. Parking is worth mentioning during the design visit, and we’ll plan around it.
Keats House, about 1.2 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

Bespoke walk-in wardrobes or ready-made?
Ready-made wardrobe systems are easy to buy and often cheaper, and in a square room they can work. In an older room with uneven walls and a sloping floor, they leave gaps. A bespoke walk-in wardrobe is made to the room. In a flat, walls are often broken up by radiators, doors and sockets, and standard widths rarely fit between them. Built-in pieces are sized for each stretch of wall.
We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.
