Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Primrose Hill: walk-in wardrobes and dressing rooms. We visit to measure and go through the design, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it.

  • The right mix of long and short hanging

Walk-in wardrobes for homes in Primrose Hill

Hanging space is the heart of most walk-in wardrobes. Full-length hanging takes coats, dresses and long garments, while double hanging, one rail above another, fits shirts and jackets into half the height. We plan the mix around what you actually wear. If your home has a dressing table with drawers and a mirror and a side each for a couple, walk-in wardrobes made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand can solve it.

Spare rooms in flats normally have more than one job, and closed storage lets the room change role without clutter. Around Primrose Hill, most households live in purpose-built flats. Doors and drawers are planned to open fully in the space you have.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout and internal fittings, the materials and the finish. If something is not quite right, tell us before anything is made.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Kentish Town West station?

Yes, homes across Camden and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.

Is parking a problem for fitting in Primrose Hill?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a pay-and-display bay or a suspended bay, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

How much time does fitting need?

How long fitting takes depends on the size of the room and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. We’ll talk it through at the measuring visit.

Do I need doors on a walk-in wardrobe?

There is no single right answer. We can fit doors, open storage or both, and we will talk it through at the design visit.

How do you get the furniture up the stairs?

The furniture is built in sections, sized for the route not just the room. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.

Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?

Not typically. Conservation area controls are mainly about the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different: check with the council’s conservation officer first.

Pricing walk-in wardrobes in Primrose Hill

When we put a quote together, we consider:

  • The number of doors and drawers
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • The overall size of the piece
  • Access to the room, such as stairs, lifts and narrow halls

There’s no price list, because each job is designed for a single room. We measure up, discuss the design and send a written quote. To start, fill in our short enquiry form.

What we need to know

To give us a picture of the room, it is useful to include:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Pictures showing the full wall, from floor to ceiling
  • Approximate measurements of the space

Photos help us understand the room before we visit. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them tell us a lot about the space, especially with rough measurements. To send them over, get in touch through our contact form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

Where other trades come in

We make and fit furniture, and we do not do electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering or structural work. There are a few other points to bear in mind:

  • Structural changes or removing walls
  • Lease checks, which are for you and your building’s managers
  • New lights or sockets

Not sure whether your space suits walk-in wardrobes? You can get in touch through our contact form and we will tell you. How a job runs, step by step.

What goes into it

  • Dressing table
  • Shoe storage
  • Hanging, shelves and drawers
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch plywood

Made for the room, or bought in a box?

A basic rail system is easy to change, and that has real appeal. Bespoke joinery lets you mix doors, drawers, shelves and hanging, painted to match the room. In a flat, every bit of floor counts, and standalone furniture uses more of it than it needs. Fitted furniture can go to the ceiling and fill a recess exactly.

The inside of the furniture affects the price as well: rails, shelves, drawers and dividers all add work. We’ll talk through what you need inside at the measuring visit.

Is it time for walk-in wardrobes?

Couples sharing a wardrobe often want more space each. A walk-in wardrobe can be planned with a side for each, so both have room.

Typical reasons people contact us include:

  • A use for a small spare room
  • Moving wardrobes out of the bedroom
  • Somewhere for shoes to live
  • Setting aside a corner of a large bedroom

If your home is one of the older houses near Church of St Mary the Virgin, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Choosing a carpenter

  • Real projects you can actually look at
  • Will the quote be in writing?
  • Are the boards named, such as MDF or plywood?
  • How doors and drawers are fitted

How to choose a carpenter in London

Fitted bedroom furniture in Primrose Hill

About 41% of the homes in the streets around Primrose Hill went up before 1919, and about 27% between 1945 and 1972, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for walk-in wardrobes, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Within a mile of the centre of Primrose Hill, 15 conservation areas are recorded by Historic England. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. The ULEZ, run by TfL, takes in all of London, so Camden is inside it. Vans bringing furniture to Primrose Hill fall under it, just as they do across the rest of London. Access and parking are talked through at the design visit.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Chimps Breeding Colony the Gorilla House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can require listed building consent. If you live in a flat close to Kentish Town West station, walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

How fitting day works

When we arrive on fitting day, we start by protecting your floors and the route from the front door to the room. The sections made in our workshop come in next. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Some buildings have a concierge, a lift booking system or set working hours, so it is worth checking with the managing agent in advance. Communal areas and floors are protected on the way in.

  1. You contact us about a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room.
  2. We visit to plan the room and measure the way in, including stairs, landings and doorways.
  3. Your written quote sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. In our workshop we build the units in sections from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The units are brought in, assembled and set level.

Preparing the room

  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Starting with a design visit

A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough measurements and a couple of photos if you can take them. To send them, fill in our short enquiry form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.
