Walk-in wardrobes in Hampstead, Camden

Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Hampstead, each designed at a visit to your home.

  • A use for a small spare room
  • Room for two wardrobes in one space
  • A dressing table with drawers and a mirror

Walk-in wardrobes for your home in Hampstead

From workshop to your room

Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Hallways in period houses are often narrow, and the stairs turn sharply, so walk-in wardrobes are made in sections sized to get through. Floors, stairs and doorways are covered before anything is carried through, and the sections are joined and scribed in the room.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and what you want to store.
  2. We come to measure the room and go through how the space should work.
  3. You get a quote in writing for the design we’ve agreed.
  4. Everything is made and finished in our workshop, using moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. The units are fitted in your home and trimmed to follow the walls.

Before fitting day

  • Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
  • Empty the space we will be working in
  • Clear the hallway and stairs so the sections can come through

Advice

Walk-in wardrobes in Hampstead

Our walk-in wardrobes are made for homes in Hampstead and all over London. We begin with a design visit, measuring the room and talking through the design, then a quote in writing. Everything is made in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long the fitting takes depends on how much hanging, shelving and drawer space goes in, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Most enquiries start with the right mix of long and short hanging and separate space for two people’s clothes, and the answer is made in our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Sash windows are common in Victorian and Edwardian houses, and the window position and deep reveals affect where furniture can go. For one of the older homes that make up a large share of the housing around Hampstead, the layout lets the sash open fully and keeps the light unblocked. Doors are chosen and hung so they clear the bed, the radiator and the door to the room.

Our quotes are written in plain words. You’ll see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, taken from what we agreed at the visit.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. Lifts sometimes need to be booked, and the lift size helps decide how big each section can be. Tell us about it when you get in touch.

Blocks of flats often have their own rules on lift bookings, entry systems and times for trades. Let us know about them at the measuring visit, and we’ll plan the fitting around them.

Materials and finishes

Spray-painted finish

For a sleek finish, spray painting works well, and it’s finished before fitting day.

Hanging rails

Hanging rails can be set for long or double hanging, based on what you wear.

Hampstead homes and walk-in wardrobes

In the streets around Hampstead, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 68%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 9%), on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. We take that into account at the measuring visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. 11 conservation areas have at least part of their area within a mile of the centre of Hampstead. England has around 10,000 in all, and their controls are largely about how buildings look from outside. Much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs. In Hampstead, a van will usually need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking at the design visit.

Living in a block of flats near Finchley Road & Frognal station? Then each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. The wider area includes historic houses such as Fenton House, about 0.4 miles north. For a period home anywhere nearby, solid external walls can be cold, so ventilation behind walk-in wardrobes is part of the design.

Hampstead is about 3 miles south-east of St Pancras, in the London Borough of Camden. We work across all London boroughs and the City of London, and Hampstead is part of that. Hampstead is one of the places in Camden where we make walk-in wardrobes, and the borough has 28 places on our list.

Design visits and fitting in NW3, NW6, NW11 and N2 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Streets in the area include Hampstead High Street, New End Square and The Mount Square, and we cover homes on all of them for walk-in wardrobes. Main roads around Hampstead include the A1 and A502, and we plan where the van can stop before fitting day. Neighbouring places we cover for walk-in wardrobes include Greenhill (1 mile north-east), West Hampstead (1 mile west), Fortune Green (1 mile west), Vale of Health (1 mile north) and South Hampstead (1 mile south). Elsewhere in Camden, we also cover St Pancras (3 miles south-east), West End (4 miles south-east), St Giles (4 miles south-east), Seven Dials (4 miles south-east), Holborn (4 miles south-east) and Bloomsbury (3 miles south-east). Being one of the larger places in Camden, Hampstead is covered for walk-in wardrobes and everything else we make.

Local landmarks in Hampstead

The streets we cover here include those near South Hampstead High School, King William IV Public House and Cecil Sharp House, among other places. Hampstead has its own railway station: Finchley Road & Frognal station. Well-known places in the area include O2 Centre (close by, under half a mile south) and Isokon Gallery (0.8 miles east). For a walk, there is Belsize Wood and Parliament Hill.

What prompts walk-in wardrobes in Hampstead

Sharing one wardrobe between two rarely works for long. We can design separate areas for hanging, shelves and drawers, so neither of you is squeezed.

Here’s what walk-in wardrobes can help with:

  • Proper shoe storage
  • The right mix of long and short hanging
  • Room for a growing wardrobe
  • A calmer, clearer bedroom

For an older house near St John-at-Hampstead church, a bedroom chimney breast and its alcoves often shape where walk-in wardrobes go.

Before you choose who makes it

  • Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
  • Whether you will get a written quote, not just a figure
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
  • How parking will work on your street

Your questions about walk-in wardrobes in Hampstead

My home in Hampstead is a period house with walls that are not straight. Is that a problem?

Yes, that is normal in older houses: each piece is scribed to the wall and levelled at the base. Skirting, picture rails and cornices are met neatly or cut around. Older walls can be solid brick or lath and plaster, and the fixings are chosen to suit.

Is Hampstead in the area you cover for walk-in wardrobes?

Yes, Hampstead is within the area we cover, which takes in all of Camden and the rest of London. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

What does a walk-in wardrobe cost?

We quote each job for the room it’s going into, after the design visit. A box room with rails and shelves and a full dressing room with drawers and a dressing table are very different jobs, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, fill in our short enquiry form.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, by prior arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.

Do you do the electrics?

No. Any new wiring, sockets or lights need an electrician. We will design around them.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. After that, you do not need to stay in the room.

How we price walk-in wardrobes

Several things affect the price:

  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • How big the furniture is
  • How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
  • Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside

Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

Getting in touch

You don’t need exact measurements or a plan. Just send what you can:

  • What you’d like to store or use the space for
  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift

The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and go through the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote for you to look over. To book one, use our contact form.
