Brondesbury Walk-in Wardrobes
Few London rooms are perfectly square, and we scribe the furniture to follow the walls. We make walk-in wardrobes for homes in Brondesbury, each designed at a visit to your home.
- More space for clothes and shoes
- A walk-in wardrobe within the bedroom
- Somewhere for shoes to live

Walk-in wardrobes in Brondesbury
You do not need a spare room to have a walk-in wardrobe. A corner or one end of a large bedroom can become a dressing area, either open to the room or behind doors. Building a new stud partition is building work, so that is for your builder, and we fit the furniture inside. We make walk-in wardrobes from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are room for two wardrobes in one space and a use for a small spare room.
Floors in older houses often slope, which matters around Brondesbury, as a large share of homes there date from before 1919. Pieces stand on a levelled plinth or adjustable feet, so doors close square and the gaps stay even. Where the wall bows, the edge is scribed to follow it.
The quote comes in writing, so you can read it at your own pace and share it with anyone else involved. It records the design, the materials and the finish we discussed.

Could you do it yourself?
Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. That is something we plan for in the design.
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, because scribing and the right fixings start to matter.
Do you need walk-in wardrobes in Brondesbury?
Others want to clear the bedroom of wardrobes. With clothes in a dressing room, the bedroom can feel more restful.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- A dressing table with drawers and a mirror
- Shelves for shoes and bags
- A dressing area in part of a bedroom
- A calmer, clearer bedroom
Close to Kilburn Grange Park? Morning light matters, so tall pieces go where they won’t shade the window.
Choosing a carpenter
- Have they thought about parking near you?
- Whether they measure the room themselves
- Will other trades be needed, and who arranges them?
- A written quote that sets out the job
What happens on fitting day
Fitting day follows a set order: we protect the floors, bring the sections in, set them level, scribe them to the walls, fix them and finish them. Then the room is tidied and we look over the work with you. The time the fitting takes depends on the room and how much is fitted into it, and your quote sets out the fitting days. In a period home, the furniture is fitted to walls that are not straight, so each piece is trimmed and adjusted on site. We protect the floors and keep dust to a minimum. Parking can be tight on terraced streets, so tell us about permits and bays at the measuring visit.
- First, you tell us about the space.
- The design visit covers measuring and the layout inside, planned around the way you get dressed.
- A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the design, materials and finish.
- Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- The walk-in wardrobe is fitted in your home. Each unit is set level and scribed to the walls.
Before fitting day
- Leave a clear route from the front door to the room
- Check the building’s rules for trades and lift bookings
- Keep pets out of the room and the hallway

Questions we are often asked
Do I need permission for fitted furniture in a conservation area?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
My home in Brondesbury is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it is worth checking those early.
Does a walk-in wardrobe need air flow?
Yes, it helps keep clothes fresh and damp away. The design allows air to circulate and walls should be dry before we fit.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
Someone needs to be there to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, but it’s useful to be around at the end.
Do I need doors on a walk-in wardrobe?
It’s your choice. Doors give a tidy look and help keep dust away, and open storage makes things quick to find. Many people choose a mix.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
We measure the room, check how level the walls and floors are and talk through the design with you. We’ll also ask about access and parking, and afterwards we send a quote in writing.
