Bell Green Bespoke Kitchens

In Bell Green, we design bespoke kitchens around the room you actually have. Your kitchen is designed at a visit to your home and made at our workshop.

  • Tall larder storage
  • Extra cupboard space
  • A layout for a small or tricky room

Bespoke kitchens in Bell Green

Kitchens in period houses bring their own challenges. Walls lean, corners are not square and floors slope, which shows up quickly along a run of cabinets. We scribe the cabinets to the walls and set them level on adjustable feet or a plinth giving a level line for the worktop you choose. We make kitchens from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are more storage in a small kitchen and a larder for food and small appliances.

Whether your home in Bell Green is a period house, an interwar semi, a post-war flat or a newer build, a bespoke kitchen starts with measuring the room. Your choice of worktop, sink and appliances is designed in. Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician.

Where other trades are needed, for example an electrician to move a socket, we point that out. Our quote covers the carpentry: the design, the materials and the finish.

Questions from Bell Green

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Bell Green?

Yes. We cover all of Lewisham and the rest of London, and Bell Green is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Bell Green?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. Let us know what parking is near you during the design visit, so the day can be planned around it.

Can you fit cabinets to walls that aren’t straight?

Yes, that’s part of the job. Walls in older homes are rarely flat and floors often slope, so every cabinet is scribed and levelled.

How is the furniture painted?

There are two ways to finish it: by spray or by hand. A spray finish is smooth and even, while a hand-painted one is easy to touch up later.

How are bespoke kitchens priced?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. To arrange a design visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Can the fitting be on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturdays are possible by prior arrangement. Just mention it when you contact us.

Flats, conversions and lettings

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants. An agent can arrange access for you.

If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it at the measuring visit.

What it is made from

Moisture-resistant MDF

Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens, as it stays stable and takes paint well.

Birch plywood

Deep pan drawers need a strong box, so birch plywood is a good choice.

How fitting day works

Before anything is fixed, we set the furniture level. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference, and that keeps the doors and shelves true. After that, it is fixed to the wall using fixings that suit the wall, whether that’s solid brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. On fitting day, the sections are assembled, scribed to the walls and levelled. Fixings are chosen for the wall, whether brick, block, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
  2. At the design visit we measure the room and talk through the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
  3. We send a quote that sets out the design, materials and finish.
  4. We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We do not arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.

Preparing the room

  • Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
  • Clear the walls of pictures and shelves
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way

How to get a quote

Every quote follows a design visit. We measure the space, check the walls and floors and discuss what you’d like, then send a written quote. Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.

Advice

Could you do it yourself?

It’s worth being honest about cost: flat-pack is usually cheaper to buy. Bespoke earns its place where the room is tricky, space is tight or you want the furniture to look part of the house.

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: scribed edges, a level base on an uneven floor and furniture that meets the ceiling, skirting and picture rail. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

What we do not do

We’d rather be clear about where our work stops:

  • Making good walls and ceilings
  • Connecting a gas hob or cooker
  • Knocking through or rebuilding walls

Not sure whether your space suits bespoke kitchens? You can message us from the contact page and we will tell you. How it works.

What goes into it

  • Islands where space allows
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Larders and dressers
  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Birch plywood

A van working in Bell Green will normally need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension arranged through the council, which often needs notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.

If you live near Mayow Park, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. For a flat near Lower Sydenham station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it. If your home is one of the older houses near St Michael's and All Angels, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
