Need bespoke kitchens in Blackheath?

Questions we’re often asked

Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Blackheath?

Yes. We cover all of Lewisham and the rest of London, and Blackheath is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Blackheath station?

Yes. We cover all of Lewisham and the rest of London. To get started, you can get in touch through our contact form with a few details about the room.

Does my lease affect fitted furniture?

Possibly. Leases vary, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. Your lease is something we cannot advise on, so it is worth checking before fitting day.

What if the wall is cold or damp?

An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture to avoid condensation. If there is damp, it should be sorted before anything is fitted.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two options: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Do you supply the worktop and appliances?

You choose the worktop, sink and appliances, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.

About our bespoke kitchens in Blackheath

A bespoke kitchen is built around the room you have. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken at the design visit, so there are no filler panels covering awkward gaps. The layout, storage and finish are planned with you, and the kitchen is built in our workshop before it is fitted. People normally come to us about spaces sized for your oven and fridge and making the most of a galley kitchen, and the answer is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted.

In homes from the 1950s and 1960s, the boiler is often in the kitchen. Many homes around Blackheath were built between 1945 and the early 1970s, so the design often has to work around one. Any cabinet around a boiler keeps the clearances its maker asks for, with any boiler work left to a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Our quotes are written in plain words, without jargon. You will see what will be made, the boards used and the finish, all taken from the design visit.

Where other trades come in

Not everything around bespoke kitchens is carpentry, such as an electrician, a plumber or an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Here’s what to know:

  • Electrics, sockets and lighting (your electrician)
  • Plastering, tiling or decorating
  • Connecting a gas hob or cooker

If in doubt, you can tell us about the room on our contact form and describe the room. How it works.

What goes into it

  • Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Birch plywood
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Islands where space allows
  • Larders and dressers

What happens on fitting day

Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Post-war houses tend to have simple halls and stairs, which helps when the sections come in. The way in is still measured, along with the room. The pieces are assembled, levelled and fixed in place, with floors protected throughout.

  1. You tell us about the room and how you use it.
  2. At the design visit we measure the walls, floor and ceiling and plan the layout.
  3. We send a quote in writing setting out the cabinets, materials and finish, ready for you to check.
  4. We build and finish the kitchen in our workshop. The materials are moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home; plumbing, gas and electrics are done by your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician. We don’t arrange these trades ourselves.

Before fitting day

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Move anything in the hall or on the stairs out of the way
  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand

Ask for a quote

Because every job is different, the cost is set out in a written quote after the visit. Because every room is different, the quote comes after the design visit, once the room is measured and the design talked through. For a quote, fill in our short enquiry form.

Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Blackheath

Many people come to us because a standard kitchen doesn’t suit their room. Standard units are made in fixed sizes, and the gaps get filled with panels. Bespoke cabinets are built to the real sizes from the start.

We’re often asked to help with:

  • Open shelves with cupboards below
  • An island where space allows
  • A kitchen finished in your colours
  • A larder for food and small appliances

For a flat near Blackheath station, the route in is measured as well as the room, and the sections are sized to fit it.

What to check before you book

  • Whether the quote says what the furniture is made from
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • Whether they can show you real projects they’ve done
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work

Looking after your furniture

Getting the most from bespoke kitchens starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Treat new paintwork gently at first
  • Check there’s room around an island before planning one
  • Talk to your other trades in good time
  • Have damp sorted before fitting

Do not leave water sitting on painted cabinets, particularly near the sink. Even moisture-resistant materials last better when kept dry.

Think about how the cabinets will get in. Workshop-made furniture comes in sections sized for stairs, hallways and lifts, so let us know about any narrow spots.

Blackheath homes and bespoke kitchens

Homes built before 1919 make up about 42% of the housing in the area around Blackheath, with about 36% built between 1945 and 1972, on the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures for 2025. It’s a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. The National Heritage List has 112 entries within half a mile of the centre of Blackheath. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Flats in converted or shared houses account for about 26% of households in the streets around Blackheath, according to Census 2021. In a converted house, rooms can be odd shapes, with new partitions meeting old walls, and the way in often goes up shared stairs. If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before anything is fixed to the walls.

For families living near All Saints' Church of England Primary School Blackheath, a tall cupboard by the door can take school bags and coats as part of the kitchen. Near listed buildings like Numbers 1 to 14 (consecutive) the Paragon, less than half a mile east of the centre of Blackheath, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent.
