Bespoke kitchens in Falconwood: what you get
Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens well, because it copes with a room that gets steamy. For drawer boxes and shelves, birch plywood is a good choice. The finish is spray painted in our workshop or hand painted, in colours agreed with you. People typically come to us about cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls and spaces sized for your oven and fridge; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.
Around Falconwood, with interwar houses or semis making up much of the housing, walls tend to be truer than in older houses, though nothing is assumed. Each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site. Other trades do the gas, plumbing and electrics.
A written quote is the clearest record of what we’ve agreed. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and the workshop works from it.

How it is made
Spray-painted finish
For a sleek look, spray painting works well, and it is done before fitting.

A painted door can be repainted in years to come if you change the colour scheme.

Made-to-measure kitchens in Falconwood
Homes built between 1919 and 1939 make up about 73% of the housing in the area around Falconwood, with about 13% built between 1945 and 1972, based on the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax data. That matters for kitchens, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Parking controls in London are set borough by borough, so Bexley has its own. If your street in Falconwood is in a controlled parking zone, a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit. About 73% of homes in the streets around Falconwood date from between 1919 and 1939, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Interwar houses often started with a small kitchen that has since been extended or opened up, so the cabinets are made for today’s layout.
For a family home near Bishop Ridley Church of England VA Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. If your home is one of the older houses near Bishop Ridley Church, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. For a flat near Welling station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in.

Looking after your furniture
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it is worth looking after. A few pointers help:
- Choose your appliances before the design is final
- Line up your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer early
- Let us know about parking during the design visit
- Think about how the cabinets will get in
Use the cooker hood or open a window when cooking, to keep steam off the cabinets. Ventilation helps the whole kitchen.
Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. We can’t advise on your lease.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made ranges rarely include a larder or dresser that fits a particular alcove. We can build them to fit, painted to match the rest of the kitchen. Walls in interwar houses are straighter than in older ones, but rarely perfect, and standalone units can lean or gap. Fitted furniture is scribed and levelled on site.
There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

What affects the price in Falconwood
Each piece is designed for one room, so each price is too. What affects it comes down to:
- The internal fittings
- The overall size of the piece
- Awkward walls, sloping ceilings and uneven floors
- The number of doors and drawers
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because size, layout and finish change from job to job. A spray finish and a hand-painted finish involve different work, and that shows in the price. The figure comes in your written quote after the design visit.
Getting in touch
When you contact us, these help most:
- Examples of the look you are after
- Anything fixed to the wall that the furniture needs to work around
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Where you live, with the postcode
If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote then sets it out. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.
How fitting day works
Getting everything level comes first. Floors are often out of level, so adjustable feet or a plinth take up the difference. Only then is it fixed to the wall, with fixings chosen to suit brick, lath and plaster or plasterboard. Fitting day means carrying in the sections, joining them and fitting them to the walls. Spray-painted pieces come finished from the workshop, while hand painting can happen on site. Saturdays can be arranged.
- You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook.
- We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
- A written quote follows for the cabinets, materials and finish.
- We build the cabinets, doors and drawer fronts in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- On fitting day the cabinets go in, scribed and set level, ready for your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer to do their part.
Before fitting day
- Tell us about parking near your home
- Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
- Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician ahead of time

Advice
FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Falconwood
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Welling station?
Yes, homes across Bexley and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can message us from the contact page to arrange a design visit.
Do you make bespoke kitchens for homes in Falconwood?
Yes. Falconwood is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Bexley and London. To get started, you can message us from the contact page with a few details.
Do I need to be in when you fit?
We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
How do you get the furniture up the stairs?
It is made in sections, each one sized to fit the way in. At the design visit, we measure the route along with the room itself.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
The price comes in a written quote, worked out from the measurements and the design you choose. Every kitchen is different, so we price it after the design visit. To arrange a visit, tell us about the room on our contact form.
Is an outside wall a problem for fitted furniture?
It can be done with some care: ventilation behind and inside the furniture helps avoid condensation and mould. Damp treatment isn’t something we do, so any damp needs sorting first.
