Bespoke kitchens in Hadley Wood
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. We plan each space around the appliances you have chosen, so everything fits as it should. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote. We make kitchens from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and people most often get in touch about a kitchen for a room that isn’t square and a painted kitchen in a colour you choose.
In a post-war house, the kitchen and dining room may already have been joined. Around Hadley Wood, many homes date from between 1945 and the early 1970s. In an opened-up room, the kitchen can be planned to sit well with the dining area. Other trades handle the gas, plumbing and electrics.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Bespoke kitchens in Hadley Wood: local notes
The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Hadley Wood were built between 1945 and 1972 (about 31%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 25%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. It is a good starting point, though every room is still measured, as two homes of the same age rarely match. Near the centre of Hadley Wood, Historic England’s list includes Camlet House (Grade II), less than half a mile north-east, and Hadley Wood Golf Club House (Grade II), under half a mile north-east. If you live in a listed building, fixing into or taking out original features like panelling can require listed building consent. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. Red routes are run by TfL, with tight limits on where and when vehicles can stop. If your home is on or just off a main road, it helps to mention it. We can then plan where the van will stop.
Wyllyotts Manor, about 2.6 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. If your home is one of the older houses near St Paul's Church, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. Close to Tudor Sports Ground? A cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.
Hadley Wood is in the London Borough of Enfield, about 6 miles south-east of Edmonton. We design and make bespoke kitchens for homes in Hadley Wood and the rest of Enfield, as part of our work in every London borough. We cover places right across Enfield.
Every home in EN4 and EN5 is within our area for bespoke kitchens, from the main roads to the quieter streets. Our area takes in homes on streets like Hertford Road, Bartrams Lane and Parkgate Avenue, along with the roads around them, whether you want bespoke kitchens or another piece made for the room. Close by, we also work in Cockfosters (1 mile south-east), Monken Hadley (1 mile west), New Barnet (1 mile south), Barnet (1 mile south-west) and Underhill (1 mile south-west). We also make bespoke kitchens in nearby places such as Edmonton (6 miles south-east), Enfield (4 miles east), Palmers Green (4 miles south-east), New Southgate (4 miles south), Enfield Chase (3 miles east) and Bush Hill Park (4 miles east).
What’s near Hadley Wood
We fit furniture in homes around JCoSS, The Hadley Hotel and Trent School Cockfosters. The nearest railway station is Hadley Wood station, about 0.5 miles north of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Spires Shopping Centre (1.4 miles west) and Barnet General Hospital (2 miles south-west). Not far away are Covert Way.
Flats, leases and landlords
Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, often to make the most of a small or tricky room. It is made from the same moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood as any of our work, with a spray or hand-painted finish.
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, getting the furniture from the van to the door needs planning. Red routes are run by TfL and have strict stopping rules, so it is worth raising at the measuring visit.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Hadley Wood
Can you fit furniture in a home close to Hadley Wood station?
Yes, homes across Enfield and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details about the room.
My home in Hadley Wood is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
We measure the route in not just the room: the stairs, landings, lift and doors. Kitchens are built in our workshop in sections sized to fit that route, then assembled in your flat. If your building has rules on lift booking or working hours, or your lease needs consent for alterations, it’s worth checking those early.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work, but it helps to be around at the end.
Do I choose the paint colour?
The choice is yours, and it is agreed with you before painting. Whichever finish you pick, it is in the colour you have chosen.
Can I have a kitchen island?
Where space allows, yes. An island needs clear floor around it to open doors and move about, and we measure for it during the design visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.
How long does fitting take?
How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. We will talk it through at the measuring visit.
How fitting day works
The last stage of the day is the finish. With a spray finish from the workshop, there is typically only filling and touching up to do in the room; if you chose hand painting, that can be done in the room once the furniture is fitted. The finish is always the one agreed in your quote. Drilling into concrete is noisier than into brick or plaster, so a word with the neighbours before fitting day can help. Fitting day is planned around any building rules on noisy work. We tidy as we go.
- It starts with a short note from you about the room.
- We visit to plan the layout and check how the cabinets will get into the room. Tell us about parking too, as a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension.
- We send a quote in writing.
- In our workshop we build the kitchen from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, in pieces that suit the route in.
- We carry everything in and fit the cabinets, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.
Getting ready for fitting day
- Tell us about any meters, fuse boards or boilers in the area
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Clear the area where the furniture is going

Bespoke or off-the-shelf?
Ready-made units are made to fixed sizes, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall. Big ready-made pieces can be tricky to carry up communal stairs, whereas fitted furniture is made in sections sized for the way in. The sections are joined once inside.
Parking is part of the price picture in London. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking during the design visit.
Why choose us
- Made for your room, not a standard size
- Over 300 projects completed
- Workshop-made and fitted by us
- A design visit, then a quote in writing
Take a look at how bespoke compares with ready-made or what a quote should include.
What affects the price in Hadley Wood
Prices vary from room to room, for these reasons:
- The internal fittings
- The overall size of the piece
- How square the room is
- The number of doors and drawers
No two rooms cost the same to furnish, because the size, the layout and the finish all vary. Spray painting and hand painting are different processes, which affects the cost. You will see the figure in your written quote, after the design visit.
What we need to know
The more you can tell us at the start, the better the design visit goes. It’s useful to include:
- Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Whether it’s a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Anything in the way, like radiators, sockets, switches, a boiler or meters
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
