About our bespoke kitchens in Holborn

We make kitchens for homes in Holborn and across London. It starts with a design visit to measure and discuss the layout, followed by a quote. The cabinets are made in our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you can plan around it. We make kitchens from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish, and the things people most often want solved are a central island in a larger kitchen and a kitchen planned around your appliances.

An open-plan kitchen in a flat is on show from the sofa, so the look of the cabinets matters as much as what they hold. Most households around Holborn live in purpose-built flats. A tall unit or panel at the end of the run can link the kitchen to the living space.

We write quotes in plain English. They say what will be made, what it’s made from and how it will be finished.

From workshop to your room

On the morning of the fitting, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made at our workshop come in next. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. Parking near blocks of flats can be limited, and loading may need planning, so details of bays, permits or a loading area help. Once inside, the sections are joined and fixed with fixings that suit the wall. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch with some details about the kitchen.
  2. We visit, measure and go through the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. The kitchen is built in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics. It helps to have those trades booked in good time.

Why bespoke in Holborn?

Standard cabinets come in set widths, so most layouts end in a filler panel. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall. Ready-made units can’t follow the boxing and risers found in many flats, leaving gaps or blocking access. Fitted furniture is built around them.

The finish affects the cost: spray painting is done in the workshop, while hand painting can be done on site. Your choice, along with the size and the fittings, is reflected in the written quote.

Why us?

  • Fitted tight to walls that aren’t straight
  • Finished by spray or by hand
  • Built from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood
  • Saturdays by arrangement

Kitchens in Holborn: local notes

Homes built before 1919 make up about 44% of the housing in the streets around Holborn, with about 20% built since 2000, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. That matters for kitchens, as the build era decides whether a wall is solid brick, lath and plaster, block or plasterboard. Near the centre of Holborn, Historic England’s list includes The Chapel (Grade I), less than half a mile south, and Nos. 16-23 (Grade I), less than half a mile south. Works inside a listed home that affect its character, for instance removing original joinery or fixing into it, can require listed building consent from the council. An early word with the council’s conservation officer is the best first step. On TfL’s red routes, the rules on stopping and loading are strict. If your home is on or just off a main road, it’s useful to mention it. That way we can plan where to load and unload.

If your home is one of the older houses near St Alban's Church, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. For a flat near Farringdon station, the lift, the stair turns and the front door all set the largest piece that can come in. Dr Johnson's House, about 0.4 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.

Holborn is about 1 mile north-west of St Pancras, in the London Borough of Camden. From period terraces to newer flats in Holborn, we measure the room as it is and design around it. Across Camden, we cover Holborn, along with the rest of the borough.

Design visits and fitting in WC1X, WC1N and EC1R work the same way as everywhere else we cover. If your home is on a street such as Shoe Lane, Drury Lane and New Square, or close by, we can visit to measure up for bespoke kitchens. The A4 and A40 run close to Holborn, so if your home is on a main road, mention it when you get in touch. Nearby, we also make bespoke kitchens in Farringdon (1 mile east), St Pancras (1 mile north-west), Clare Market (1 mile south), Smithfield (1 mile east) and Temple Bar (1 mile south). We also make bespoke kitchens in nearby places such as Hampstead (4 miles north-west), West Hampstead (4 miles north-west), Agar Town (2 miles north-west), Kentish Town (2 miles north-west), Greenhill (4 miles north-west) and Chalk Farm (2 miles north-west).

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

I live in a flat in Holborn. How will the furniture get up the stairs?

At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It is useful to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Farringdon station?

Yes, homes across Camden and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can tell us about the room on our contact form to arrange a design visit, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

How are bespoke kitchens priced?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Every kitchen is different, so we quote once we have measured. To arrange a visit, use our contact form.

Do I get to choose the colour?

You choose it. The paint colour is agreed with you.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need someone to let us in at the start of the day. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

How long will the kitchen take to fit?

Every kitchen is different. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.

When is bespoke worth it?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. Off-the-shelf furniture can’t normally do that in an older room.

Shop-bought shelves can sag over a long span. How much a shelf bends depends on its span, depth and load, and long runs need a thicker shelf, a lip along the front or a support. We design shelves with that in mind.

Flats, conversions and leaseholders

In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, which we check at the measuring visit.

In a managed block, the building manager or concierge may need notice before we arrive. If there’s a lift, it may need booking, and its size matters when we plan the sections. Tell us about it when you contact us.

Practical tips

A few practical points help before and after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Allow space to walk round an island
  • Give the paint time to cure fully
  • Make a note of what you use every day
  • Measure the route into the kitchen

Let steam escape when you cook, as steam settling on cabinets over time isn’t good for any finish. Good ventilation helps paintwork last.

Measure the route into the kitchen as well as the room. Workshop-made furniture comes in sections sized for stairs, hallways and lifts, so tell us about tight turns or small lifts.
