Bespoke kitchens designed for your room

From workshop to your room

Furniture made in a workshop still has to meet the room it’s going into, and fitting day is where that happens. Few walls in older London homes are truly flat or square, so each edge that meets a wall is scribed to follow it, until the line is tight. How long the fitting itself takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. With little room to spare in a flat, pieces come in as they’re needed. Floors are covered and dust is kept down. Fixings are chosen for each wall, solid or plasterboard.

  1. First, you tell us about the room. Say a little about the way you cook.
  2. We visit, measure and go through the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you, setting out the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. Everything is built in our workshop.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics. It helps to have those trades booked in good time.

How to prepare

  • Arrange any electrical changes with your electrician beforehand
  • If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
  • Take anything hanging off the wall we’re fitting to

Ask for a quote

If you know what you want, say so; if not, we can work it out together at the visit. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To start, message us from the contact page.

Bespoke kitchens in Agar Town: what you get

Our bespoke kitchens are fitted in Agar Town and all over London. It starts with a design visit to measure and discuss the layout, then a quote in writing. The cabinets are made at our workshop and fitted in your home. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote, so you can plan around it. If your home has a larder for food and small appliances and a layout for a small or awkward room, kitchens made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed can solve it.

With most households around Agar Town in purpose-built flats, mansion blocks and modern blocks are both possible. Mansion block kitchens often have tall ceilings and walls that are not straight, while a newer flat is more likely to have plasterboard walls and boxed-in services. Fixings are chosen for whichever you have.

The written quote is your record of the job. It describes the kitchen we’ve designed for the room, its materials and its finish, and it is what the workshop builds to.

Materials and finishes

Moisture-resistant MDF

MDF gives a smooth surface for painted doors, and the moisture-resistant grade suits a kitchen.

Larder and dresser units

Dressers suit many period kitchens, and each is made for its wall.

What bespoke kitchens cannot fix

Electrics, plumbing, gas, plastering and structural work are not part of what we do. Please bear these in mind too:

  • Knocking through or rebuilding walls
  • Plumbing, which is for your plumber
  • Painting the walls around the kitchen

If in doubt, you can get in touch through our contact form and describe the room before you arrange a visit. How a job runs, step by step.

Materials and parts

  • Birch plywood
  • Spray-painted finish
  • Larders and dressers
  • Hand-painted finish
  • Islands where space allows
  • Moisture-resistant MDF

What prompts bespoke kitchens in Agar Town

People also want a kitchen that is built to last and can be repainted, which suits a long-term home. Hand painting is simple to touch in or refresh later on.

If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth getting in touch:

  • Making the most of a galley kitchen
  • A painted dresser for the kitchen
  • A kitchen that fits an uneven room
  • A kitchen finished in your colours

If you live near Lewis Cubitt Park, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design.

Before you choose who makes it

  • How they deal with uneven walls and floors
  • Whether the route into your home has been checked
  • Have they thought about parking near you?
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work

Caring for painted furniture

New paint needs time to cure fully, so treat it gently at first. After that, a few simple habits help:

  • Know your appliance sizes early
  • Make sure an island will not crowd the room
  • Tell us about parking at the measuring visit
  • Make a note of what you use every day

The appliances you’ve chosen come with their own care instructions, and the worktop you chose will have its own care advice too.

Line up your other trades in good time. Their work and ours need to fit together, and it’s easier when everyone works from the same design.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Agar Town

Is parking a problem for fitting in Agar Town?

It can be: much of inner London is covered by controlled parking zones. Depending on the street, a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension through the council may be needed, and suspensions often need notice. It’s useful to let us know about parking at the design visit.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Camden Road station?

Yes. We cover all of Camden and the rest of London. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. The size of the room, the number of units and the finish all make a difference. To arrange a design visit, get in touch through our contact form.

Do I need planning permission for fitted furniture?

Usually not. Inside a house, fitted furniture does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings can require listed building consent for works that affect their character, so check with the council first.

Do you do the plumbing and electrics?

No, that work is for other trades. Your plumber connects the sink and dishwasher, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register handles any gas, and your electrician does the wiring, while we make and fit the cabinets.

Does someone need to be home during the fitting?

We need access, so someone has to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent. If you live in a period home close to All Saints, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout.
