Bespoke kitchens in Millwall: what you get
We make the cabinets; the worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose. Knowing the appliance sizes early lets us leave the right spaces, from the oven housing to the dishwasher. The materials and finish are agreed in your quote. If your home has cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls and tall larder storage, that is what kitchens are for, made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand.
A large share of the homes around Millwall date from 2000 onwards, and some came with kitchens that suit the building more than the people living in it. Cabinets made for your room can take its place, with the worktop, sink and appliances you choose. Gas, plumbing and electrics are for the right trades.
You get the quote in writing, so there is time to read it properly and share it with anyone else involved. It covers the design, materials and finish agreed at the visit.

Before and after fitting day
Fitted furniture is part of the room, so it’s worth looking after. Here are a few tips worth knowing:
- Measure the route into the kitchen
- Wipe up spills promptly
- Pick the oven, fridge and dishwasher first
- Have damp sorted before fitting
Once the kitchen is fitted, the paint needs time to cure fully. Treat the doors and drawer fronts gently at first, and wipe them with a soft, damp cloth. In time, mild soapy water and a soft cloth keep them clean.
Talk to your plumber, electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer early. The pipes, cables and gas supply need to suit the layout, and it is easier when everyone works from the same design.
What affects the price in Millwall
What you pay depends on:
- Parking and unloading on your street
- How easy it is to get the furniture into the room
- How big the furniture is
- Spray painting or hand painting
Access to the room makes a difference too. Narrow halls, tight stairs or a small lift may mean the furniture is made in more sections, which the quote allows for. Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured.
What we need to know
A little information at the start saves time later. Where you can, include:
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- What the furniture needs to hold
To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form and let us know which room you have in mind. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Flats, blocks and rented homes
For flats on red routes or busy main roads, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so let us know about it during the design visit.
In conversions and newer blocks, many internal walls are timber or metal stud with plasterboard. We choose fixings to suit the wall, which we check during the design visit.
When you need someone else
We design, make and fit the furniture. That means:
- Moving water or waste pipes
- Wiring for appliances and lights
- Painting the walls around the kitchen

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Millwall
In the streets around Millwall, the largest groups of homes date from the years since 2000 (about 52%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 24%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. There are 23 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Millwall. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. About 83% of households in the area around Millwall live in purpose-built flats, according to Census 2021. For a flat, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Many blocks have rules on lift booking and working hours, so check with the managing agent before fitting day.
For an older house near Church of St Nicholas, a narrow back addition or an old chimney breast may shape the kitchen layout. Queen's House, about 0.9 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. For a period home anywhere nearby, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top. If you live in a flat close to Deptford station, kitchens are made in sections sized for the stairs, landings and lift, so measuring the route matters as much as measuring the room.

FAQs: bespoke kitchens in Millwall
Does a conservation area in or near Millwall affect fitted furniture?
Not normally. Conservation area controls are mostly concerned with the outside of buildings, so fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. Listed buildings are different, as works inside that affect their character can require listed building consent from the council. If you are unsure, the council can confirm.
Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Millwall?
It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the measuring visit.
Can you build an island in my kitchen?
Yes, where there’s space. At the design visit we check the clearances around it, and suggest another layout if it would crowd the room.
How do you get large furniture into a flat?
We plan the route in during the design visit. The stairs, landings, any lift and the doorways are measured, and each section is made to a size that will get through.
Can you come on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Do you cover Millwall?
Yes. Our area is the whole of London: every borough and the City of London, Millwall included.
How fitting day works
You will not need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in, and it helps to have the room cleared beforehand, as we’ll have talked about at the design visit. From there, we protect the floors, bring the furniture in and get on with the fitting. The time the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Newer homes often have finished floors, painted walls and new doors that mark easily, so we protect the route before carrying anything in. Corners and door frames are covered as well. Once inside, the pieces are joined in place.
- You get in touch and describe the kitchen you want.
- We visit to measure and discuss the layout and the finish, spray-painted or hand-painted.
- A quote in writing follows, with the finish agreed.
- We make the kitchen in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF, which suits kitchens and takes paint well, and birch plywood.
- The kitchen is fitted and scribed to the walls, with any hand painting done in the room.
- Plumbing, gas and electrics are for your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician; new paintwork needs gentle use while it cures.
