Bespoke kitchens in Northfields, Ealing

Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. We make bespoke kitchens for homes in Northfields, each designed at a visit to your home.

Your questions about bespoke kitchens in Northfields

Is Northfields in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?

Yes. Northfields is one of the places we work, along with the rest of Ealing and London. To get started, you can drop us a line using the contact form with a few details.

Can you fit furniture in a home close to Brentford station?

Yes, homes across Ealing and the rest of London are within the area we cover. You can fill in our short enquiry form to arrange a design visit.

Do you do the plumbing and electrics?

No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Your plumber, a Gas Safe registered engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics, and we plan the cabinets around their work.

How much time does fitting need?

Every kitchen is different. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days.

Can I have a kitchen island?

If there’s enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we check this at the measuring visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.

Do I need to be at home on fitting day?

We need someone to let us in. It’s good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Northfields

A bespoke kitchen is built around the room you have. Every unit is sized from careful measurements taken at the design visit, so the runs fit neatly from wall to wall. You decide the layout, the storage and the colour with us, and the kitchen is built in our workshop before it’s fitted. Typical reasons to get in touch are more storage in a small kitchen and open shelves with cupboards below, and the answer is made at our workshop from birch plywood and moisture-resistant MDF with a spray-painted or hand-painted finish.

Narrow hallways in Victorian and Edwardian terraces set limits on how long a cabinet or panel can be. A large share of the homes around Northfields date from before 1919, so we measure the route to the kitchen along with the room itself. Long runs arrive in sections and are joined in place, with the joins placed where they will not show.

Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that’s spray painting or hand painting.

Practical tips

Getting the most from bespoke kitchens starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:

  • Let us know about parking at the design visit
  • Check stairs, hallways and lifts for access
  • Check there’s room around an island before planning one
  • Choose your appliances before the design is final

If a hand-painted door gets a chip, it can be touched in. A spray finish gives a smooth, even surface that wipes clean. Keep a note of the paint colours.

Leasehold flats can have rules about alterations, so check your lease early. Your lease is something to check with whoever manages the building.

Flats, blocks and rented homes

If the property is let, we’ll need access agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. An agent can arrange access for you, and the written quote can go to whoever needs it.

If you live in a flat, getting the furniture in is planned from the start. We measure the stairs, landings, lift and doorways not just the room, so the furniture can be made in sections that fit through.

How fitting day works

At the end, we tidy up. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you. How long fitting takes depends on how many units there are and how the room is laid out, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. In houses converted into flats, the route in may include a shared hall and stairs, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. Each section is sized for the tightest door or turn. Saturdays can be arranged.

  1. You get in touch with a few details about the kitchen. Say a little about the way you cook.
  2. We visit, measure and talk through the layout, larder, dresser or island, where space allows.
  3. A quote in writing is sent to you.
  4. Everything is made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician do the plumbing, gas and electrics.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure pets are kept safely away
  • Let us know if your street is in a controlled parking zone
  • Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day

Starting with a design visit

It helps to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space. To share them, fill in our short enquiry form, and we’ll suggest a time for a design visit.

Advice

Could you do it yourself?

What you pay for with bespoke is mainly the fit: edges scribed to the wall, a level base on a sloping floor and a neat line where the furniture meets the ceiling. In an older room, standard units rarely manage that.

Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.

Is it time for bespoke kitchens?

Often the call comes after building work has opened up the space. A new room needs a kitchen planned for its shape and light, and building work itself is for your builder.

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth getting in touch:

  • Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
  • Open shelves with cupboards below
  • Cabinets built around the appliances you choose
  • A painted kitchen in a colour you choose

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Boston Manor House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features may need listed building consent.

What to check before you book

  • Whether you will get a quote in writing, not just a figure
  • Who does any electrics, plumbing or gas work
  • Whether the finish is set out in the quote
  • How doors and drawers are fitted

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Northfields

In the streets around Northfields, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 63%) and between 1919 and 1939 (about 19%), according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). We take that into account at the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 13 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Northfields. Being near listed buildings does not make a home listed, and you can check any address on Historic England’s list. About 63% of homes in the area around Northfields were built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Kitchens in houses of that age often sit in a narrow back addition, with walls and floors that aren’t true, so each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site.

If you live near Lammas Park, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen. Boston Manor, about 0.5 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.

Northfields is about 1 mile north of Ealing, in the London Borough of Ealing. Wherever you are in Northfields, the process is the same: we visit and measure, send a quote in writing, make the furniture in our workshop and fit it. Our work takes in places right across Ealing, large and small.
