Bespoke kitchens in Brentford
Islands work well in kitchens with room to walk around them. There needs to be enough clear floor around it to open doors and move about, because a cramped island makes a kitchen harder to work in. Where space is tight, a peninsula or a longer run may suit better. We make kitchens from MDF made to resist moisture and birch plywood, then spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a layout for a small or awkward room and a kitchen planned around your appliances.
A newer kitchen may have a wide glazed door or a big window on one wall, so storage has to be planned around the glass. With many homes around Brentford built since 2000, tall units and an island or peninsula can make up the difference. Wall cabinets are fixed into the studs or with fixings made for the board.
The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, what it’s made from and how it’s finished.

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Brentford
About 38% of the homes in the area around Brentford went up since 2000, and about 23% before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax figures (2025). Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. The National Heritage List has 38 entries within half a mile of the centre of Brentford. Older homes nearby may have original joinery, shutters or panelling worth keeping, and kitchens can be designed to work around them. London’s red routes are run by TfL, and stopping on them is tightly controlled. Where a home in Brentford is on or beside a main road, it helps to mention that at the design visit. Then we can work out where to load and unload.
If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, such as Church of St Lawrence, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. For a listed home, fixing into original features can need listed building consent. For a flat near Brentford station, it helps to book the lift and tell the concierge before fitting day.

What else we make in Brentford
Questions we are often asked
Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Brentford?
Yes. We cover all of Hounslow and the rest of London, and Brentford is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Is parking a problem for fitting in Brentford?
It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit.
Can I choose my own worktop and appliances?
We plan the kitchen around the worktop, sink and appliances you choose. Knowing their sizes early helps, and the quote confirms what’s included.
What materials do you use for kitchens?
MDF for smooth painted parts and birch plywood for drawer boxes and shelves. We spray paint in the workshop or hand paint, in colours you choose.
Do I need permission to fit furniture in a leasehold flat?
Possibly. It depends on your lease, and some require the building owner’s consent for alterations. Your lease is something we can’t advise on, so check it or ask your managing agent.
Can the fitting be on a Saturday?
Yes, by arrangement. Let us know when you contact us if a Saturday suits you best.
Is it time for bespoke kitchens?
In a flat, the kitchen may share a wall with the living space or sit in a narrow galley. Bespoke cabinets can make the most of a small or odd-shaped room, so every run is used.
Common reasons to get in touch include:
- A pantry cupboard with shelves and drawers
- More storage in a small kitchen
- A kitchen planned around your appliances
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
Kew Palace, about 0.5 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area. If your own home is a period one, tall ceilings can take larder cupboards right up to the top.
Choosing a carpenter
- Whether the route into your home has been checked
- How they handle walls that are not straight
- Whether they measure the room themselves
- Are the boards named, like MDF or plywood?
How it is made
Larder and dresser units
They’re a good way to use an alcove or the end of a wall.
Moisture-resistant MDF
Moisture-resistant MDF suits kitchens, because it copes with a room that gets warm and steamy.
Why bespoke in Brentford?
Many off-the-shelf kitchens use chipboard carcasses with a printed or wrapped finish. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, so the finish can be repainted later. Rooms in newer homes are often compact, and standard depths can take too much floor, while fitted furniture can be made shallower where space is tight. It still uses the full height.
In London, parking can affect the price. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Let us know about parking at the measuring visit.

What happens on fitting day
You’re welcome to ask questions while we work. The design, materials and finish were settled before anything was made, so the day itself is about careful fitting and leaving the room tidy. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Parking at newer developments can be restricted, with private bays or loading areas, so it’s useful to let us know at the measuring visit. On fitting day, the sections are carried in, assembled and fixed. Saturday fitting is possible by arrangement.
- First, you tell us about the kitchen you have and the one you want.
- At the design visit we measure the room and go through the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- A written quote follows, covering the cabinets, materials and finish.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics.
Before fitting day
- Have your electrician move any sockets or switches beforehand
- Let us know about parking near your home
- Take anything hanging off the wall we are fitting to
How to get a quote
The design visit is where every quote starts. We measure the room properly, check how the walls and floors run and discuss the design with you. Afterwards, we send a written quote. To book one, send us a few details through our contact form.
