Questions from Oakleigh Park

Can parking be tricky on fitting day in Oakleigh Park?

It depends on the street, as many London boroughs run controlled parking zones. A van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. It’s useful to tell us about parking during the design visit.

Can you make bespoke kitchens for a home in Oakleigh Park?

Yes. We cover all of Barnet and the rest of London, and Oakleigh Park is part of that. The first step is a design visit, where we measure and go through the design, followed by a quote.

What does a bespoke kitchen cost?

Prices are quoted for your room, once we’ve measured and talked through the design. Size, layout and finish all affect the price. For a design visit, send us a few details through our contact form.

How long will the kitchen take to fit?

Every kitchen is different. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote.

Can I choose my own worktop and appliances?

The worktop, sink and appliances are the ones you choose, and we design the cabinets around them. Your quote sets out what’s included.

Can you fit cabinets to walls that are not straight?

Yes, it is something we deal with all the time. Walls in older homes are rarely flat and floors often slope, so every cabinet is scribed and levelled.

Bespoke kitchens in Oakleigh Park: what you get

An island can be a good addition where there is space for one. There needs to be enough clear floor around it to open doors and move about, because a cramped island makes a kitchen harder to work in. If the room is narrow, we’ll suggest other layouts. We make kitchens from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed, and the usual reasons to get in touch are tall larder storage and a painted dresser for the kitchen.

If you live in one of the interwar houses or semis around Oakleigh Park, the walls are often straighter than in a Victorian house, but they’re still measured carefully. Each cabinet is levelled and scribed on site. Gas work is for an engineer on the Gas Safe Register, and the plumbing and electrics are for your plumber and electrician.

The written quote puts the design visit in writing: the layout, what goes inside, the materials used and the finish. If you’d like to change anything, it’s easier before the furniture is made.

Plinths and scribe strips

We trim the edges to follow the wall, closing any gaps.

Moisture-resistant MDF

For painted cabinet fronts, moisture-resistant MDF is our usual choice, because it is stable and smooth.

Bespoke kitchens for homes in Oakleigh Park

The biggest shares of homes in the streets around Oakleigh Park were built between 1919 and 1939 (about 32%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 23%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Each era brings its own kind of wall, ceiling height and floor, so it shapes the design from the first measurement. If you live in a flat close to Oakleigh Park station, check any building rules on lifts and working hours early, and the sections will be sized for the way in. If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Lawrence Campe Almshouses, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. For a family home near Queenswell Infant & Nursery School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off.

Flats, leases and landlords

Landlords furnishing a let use fitted furniture too, as it makes good use of an tricky room. The materials are the same as for any home: moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.

Mansion blocks and purpose-built blocks often have house rules about lifts, entry systems and when trades can come in. Tell us about them at the measuring visit, so fitting day is planned around them.

Pricing bespoke kitchens in Oakleigh Park

What you pay depends on:

  • Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
  • The internal fittings
  • Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
  • Access to the room, like stairs, lifts and narrow halls

Every piece is quoted for your room after the design visit. Size, the number of doors and drawers and the internal fittings make the biggest difference to the price.

What we need to know

Ahead of the design visit, we’ll normally ask about:

  • What the furniture needs to hold
  • The type of home and how the room is reached
  • Pictures of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Your postcode and the borough

For a quote for bespoke kitchens in Oakleigh Park, use our contact form. Let us know the room and the rough idea, with sizes if you have them. We’ll arrange a design visit, then send a quote in writing.

Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?

Ready-made cabinets often have chipboard carcasses. We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, painted in colours you choose, finished to suit the room. Off-the-shelf units come in set widths, so a run along a wall normally ends with a gap, so fitted furniture is made to the wall’s own length. It can use the full height too.

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. A larger piece means more material and more time, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

What happens on fitting day

Fitting day follows a set order: floors are protected, the sections come in, everything is levelled, scribed to the walls, fixed and finished. At the end, we tidy up and go over the work with you. How long the fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and we confirm the fitting days in your quote. If you have a driveway, it can make unloading simpler, so it’s worth mentioning during the design visit. Otherwise, a visitor permit or a nearby bay helps. Floors and doorways are protected while the pieces come in.

  1. You get in touch and tell us about the room and how you cook.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. A quote in writing follows for the cabinets, materials and finish. Plumbing, gas and electrics are not part of it: those are for your plumber, an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and your electrician.
  4. The cabinets are made in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. We fit the cabinets in your home, working around your plumber, your electrician and a Gas Safe engineer.

Preparing the room
