About our bespoke kitchens in Paddington Green

A kitchen needs other trades as well as a carpenter. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by a Gas Safe registered engineer and electrics by your electrician, so the design allows for pipes, cables and connections. Typical reasons to get in touch are cabinets for a narrow kitchen and a central island in a larger kitchen; the furniture is made from birch ply and moisture-resistant MDF, painted by hand or sprayed.

In a compact flat kitchen, tall larders and good corner storage make the most difference. Around Paddington Green, most households live in purpose-built flats. Your chosen appliances can be built in behind matching doors.

After the design visit, we send you a quote in writing. It describes the design we discussed, the materials and the finish, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Common questions about bespoke kitchens

I live near London Paddington station. Is that in your area?

Yes, homes across Westminster and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can use our contact form with a few details about the room.

Will parking be an issue for fitting furniture in Paddington Green?

It can be, as controlled parking zones cover much of inner London. A van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a parking bay suspension, which the council arranges, often with notice. Let us know what parking is near you at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

Can you build an island in my kitchen?

If there is enough room, yes. There has to be comfortable space on every side, and we check this during the design visit. In a narrow kitchen, a longer run or a peninsula may suit better.

Can you fit a kitchen in a room with uneven walls?

Yes, that is part of the job. Few walls in a period house are straight, so we scribe and level every cabinet.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange Saturdays. Let us know when you first get in touch.

What finishes do you offer?

There are two options: spray painting, done in the workshop for a smooth, even finish, or hand painting, which can be done on site. The finish is agreed in your quote.

Made-to-measure kitchens or ready-made?

There is a place for both. In a simple modern kitchen, off-the-shelf can be enough. Where the room is tricky, the house is older or you want a painted kitchen that suits it, bespoke is normally worth considering. In a flat, walls are often broken up by radiators, doors and sockets, so off-the-shelf widths rarely fill the gaps. Fitted furniture is made for the spaces that are left.

There’s no price list: each design is priced in writing after we’ve seen the space. Bigger pieces use more board and take longer to make and fit, so size comes first. After that, the number of doors and drawers, the internal fittings and the finish all play a part.

Why choose us

  • Saturday work by arrangement

Is it time for bespoke kitchens?

A painted kitchen can be refreshed later, which suits a long-term home. Hand-painted finishes are easy to touch up later on.

Common reasons to get in touch include:

  • A kitchen island with room around it
  • More storage in a small kitchen
  • Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
  • A painted dresser for the kitchen

If you live near Kensington Gardens, a cupboard by the back door for boots and coats can be built in with the kitchen.

How fitting day works

Once the main sections are fixed in place, any doors go on and any drawers or lids are fitted. Each one is adjusted until the gaps are even and it closes cleanly, then checked again. How long fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. In a block of flats, the stairs, landings, lift and doors matter as much as the room: kitchens are made in sections sized for each of them. Some older blocks have small lifts or none.

  1. You get in touch and let us know about the room and how you cook.
  2. We visit to measure the room and go through the layout, the storage and where the appliances will sit.
  3. A written quote follows for the cabinets, materials and finish.
  4. We build the cabinets, doors and drawer fronts in our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood.
  5. On fitting day the cabinets go in, scribed and set level, ready for your plumber, electrician and Gas Safe registered engineer to do their part.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets out of the room and the hallway
  • Book any lift and let the concierge or building manager know
  • Take down pictures, mirrors and shelves from the wall

What affects the cost of bespoke kitchens

Prices vary from room to room, for these reasons:

  • Spray painting or hand painting
  • Parking and unloading on your street
  • The internal fittings
  • The number of doors and drawers

Rooms that are not square take more work: walls that lean, floors that slope and sloping ceilings all mean more scribing and cutting. The quote allows for it, which we write after seeing the room.

Before the design visit

A little information at the start saves time later. If you can, send:

  • Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
  • Examples of the look you are after
  • Where you live, with the postcode
  • How you want to use the space

To make a start, send us a few details through our contact form and let us know which room you have in mind. We then arrange a design visit to measure and talk through the design, and a quote in writing follows.

Kitchens in Paddington Green homes

In the neighbourhood around Paddington Green, the largest groups of homes date from before 1919 (about 44%) and between 1945 and 1972 (about 16%), going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. Part of Paddington Green is in the Paddington Green Conservation Area, according to Historic England’s records. The controls in a conservation area are mostly about the outside of buildings, so furniture fitted inside a house doesn’t normally need planning permission. The council can confirm if you’re not sure. In inner London, a large part of the street parking sits inside borough-run controlled parking zones. In Paddington Green, a van will typically need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay, and the council arranges suspensions, often with notice. Parking is worth mentioning at the design visit, so we can plan the day around it.

If your home is as old as some of the listed buildings nearby, like Catholic Apostolic Church and Church House, original features like shutters, panelling and fireplaces are worth designing around. If your own home is listed, check with the council before fixing into original features. Flats, leases and landlords

For a rented home, access for the design visit and fitting day has to be agreed with the tenants, at times that suit them. A letting agent can arrange this on a landlord’s behalf.

Leaseholders should check the lease before anything is fixed to the walls. Some leases need the building owner’s consent for alterations, and that’s best sorted before fitting day. We can’t advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
