Need bespoke kitchens in Hyde Park Estate?
Questions we’re often asked
Is Hyde Park Estate in the area you cover for bespoke kitchens?
Yes. We cover all of Westminster and the rest of London, and Hyde Park Estate is part of that. We start with a design visit to measure the room and talk through what you need, followed by a quote.
Will a conservation area stop me having bespoke kitchens fitted in Hyde Park Estate?
Usually not: conservation area rules mainly cover the outside of buildings, and fitted furniture inside a house does not normally need planning permission. If your home is listed, changes inside that alter its character can need listed building consent, so check with the council first. The council’s planning or conservation team can tell you if in doubt.
How long will the kitchen take to fit?
It depends on the kitchen. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and your quote sets out the fitting days, so you can plan your other trades around it.
What are your kitchens made from?
Our kitchens are made from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, then spray painted or hand painted. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.
Will you connect the sink and appliances?
No. We make and fit the kitchen cabinets. Plumbing is done by your plumber, gas by a Gas Safe engineer and electrics by your electrician, and we design around where their work goes.
Do I need to be at home on fitting day?
We need someone to let us in. It is good to have someone there at the end to look over the work with us.
How we make bespoke kitchens for Hyde Park Estate
Islands work well in kitchens with room to walk around them. We check there is comfortable space on every side, and in a narrow kitchen an island can make the room harder to use. If the room is narrow, we’ll suggest other layouts. We make kitchens from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, spray-painted or hand-painted, and the things people most often want solved are a larder for food and small appliances and extra cupboard space.
Most households around Hyde Park Estate live in purpose-built flats, and in a flat, the kitchen is often small or open to the living space. Cabinets made to the room’s exact widths make the most of every wall. Everything is built in sections that fit the route into the flat.
Materials are named in the quote: moisture-resistant MDF, birch plywood or both, depending on the design. The finish is stated too, whether that is spray painting or hand painting.

Looking after your furniture
Getting the most from bespoke kitchens starts with the planning and carries on after fitting day. These are worth keeping in mind:
- Choose your appliances before the design is final
- Treat new paintwork gently at first
- Share the layout with your other trades
- Have damp sorted before fitting
The appliances you have chosen come with their own care instructions, and the worktop you chose will have its own care advice too.
It is useful to know which appliances you want early. We size the spaces around them, and changing them later can mean changing the units.
Why people ask for bespoke kitchens in Hyde Park Estate
Older kitchens often lack storage. Larders, tall cupboards and deep drawers can hold much more without crowding the room.
A few of the things people ask us to solve include:
- An island where space allows
- Cabinets for a narrow kitchen
- Spaces sized for your oven and fridge
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls
For an older house near Church of St John the Evangelist, cabinets will be scribed to walls and floors that are rarely true.
Choosing a carpenter
- Will they visit to measure before quoting?
- Whether you’ll get a quote in writing, not just a figure
- Which materials they’ll use, named in the quote
- Will the doors close with even gaps?
How fitting day works
At the end, we tidy up and take up the floor coverings. Before we go, we look over the finished furniture with you and answer any questions. How long the fitting takes depends on the kitchen’s size and how many other trades are involved, and the fitting days are agreed in your quote. Drilling can be heard through the walls and floors of a block, and many buildings limit noisy work to certain hours. Fitting day is planned around any rules your building has. Saturday work is by prior arrangement where the building permits it.
- We start with how you use the kitchen and what isn’t working. It helps to know the worktop, sink and appliances you have in mind.
- At the design visit we measure the room and discuss the layout, storage and finish, including where the sink and appliances will go.
- We send a quote that sets out the design, materials and finish, for you to read through.
- The cabinets, doors and drawer fronts are built in our workshop.
- We fit the kitchen in your home, while your plumber, a Gas Safe engineer and your electrician handle the plumbing, gas and electrics. We do not arrange those trades, so it helps to book them early.
Preparing the room
- Point out meters, boilers and fuse boards near the furniture
- If you live in a block, book the lift and tell the building manager
- Get any new sockets or wiring done by your electrician before fitting day
How to get a quote
To make a start, drop us a line using the contact form and let us know which room you have in mind and roughly what you’d like. We then arrange a design visit to measure and go through the design, and send you a written quote afterwards.

Flat-pack or bespoke?
If you are handy, a simple shelf or a standard wardrobe in a square room is a reasonable DIY job. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Flat-pack and off-the-shelf furniture has its place. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job.
