Our fitted wardrobes across W2
Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, from the floor to the ceiling and from wall to wall. There’s no dusty gap on top and no tricky space at the ends. If you are planning fitted wardrobes in W2, the first step is a design visit to measure up and talk through the design. We make fitted wardrobes from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray or by hand, and people most often get in touch about not enough hanging space and bedroom alcoves that could hold clothes.
Period rooms often have skirting boards, picture rails, cornices or coving for the furniture to meet. On fitting day, we cut and scribe the furniture around these details, so it sits neatly against the room. The time the fitting takes depends on how many wardrobes there are and how the room is shaped, and the fitting days are set out in your quote.
- To begin, use our contact form; a brief note on the bedroom and what you need to store is enough.
- We visit to measure up and work out the inside with you, from rail heights to drawer depths.
- The written quote sets out each wardrobe’s inside layout, the doors, the materials and the finish.
- Everything is made at our workshop from moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, which holds screws well for rails and runners.
- The wardrobes are fitted in your home, spray-painted in the workshop or hand-painted on site, and the inside fittings go in last.
What affects the price in W2
We do not publish set prices, because each job is designed for a single room. Instead, we measure, discuss the design and then quote in writing. To start, drop us a line using the contact form.

Getting a quote
A quote begins with a few details from you: which room it is, rough sizes and a couple of pictures if you can take them. When you’re ready, get in touch through our contact form. We will then arrange a design visit and follow it with a written quote.

Bedroom storage across W2
In W2, a spare room often doubles as a study or a guest room. The design can help one room work two ways.
About 50% of the homes in the W2 postcode district went up before 1919, and about 15% since 2000, in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. Knowing roughly when a home was built helps, because walls and fixings change from one era to the next. More than a third of the homes in the W2 postcode district (about 50%) were built before 1919, going by the Valuation Office Agency’s 2025 council tax figures. Bedrooms in houses of that age often have a chimney breast and alcoves, which suit wardrobes built to their widths. About 69% of households in W2 live in purpose-built flats, the 2021 Census shows. For a flat, fitted wardrobes are made in sections sized for the stairs, the lift and the doors. Building management rules on lifts, deliveries and working hours are worth checking early.
Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones run by the boroughs, so a van may need a visitor’s permit, a paid parking bay or a bay suspension, which the council arranges. It helps to tell us about parking during the design visit.
City of Westminster: If you live in a flat close to Bond Street station, each piece is planned so it can be carried up and joined together in the room. If you live near Hyde Park, a bedroom facing the green is best kept light, with the furniture on the side walls.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Off-the-shelf wardrobes are cheaper to buy and easy to take with you. If you’re renting or moving soon, that may matter most. Built-in wardrobes become part of the house and are made for that room alone.
What to check before you book
- How they handle walls that aren’t straight
- Whether they measure the room themselves
- Will the quote be in writing?
- How parking will work on your street
When is bespoke worth it?
A confident DIYer can manage simple shelves or a standard wardrobe in a square room. It gets harder with sloping ceilings, out-of-level floors and lath-and-plaster walls, where scribing and fixings that suit the wall are important.
Off-the-shelf furniture can be a sensible choice. If the walls are straight and the space suits standard sizes, it often does the job, and it is quick to buy.
Flats, leases and landlords
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. Fixings are chosen to suit whatever the wall is made of, after checking the walls at the design visit.
If your flat is leasehold, check your lease before fixing furniture to the walls. A lease can require consent from the building owner for alterations, which is worth sorting early. We cannot advise on your lease, so check it yourself or ask your managing agent.
What we don’t do
We don’t treat damp or carry out building work, and there are a few other limits too:
- Any wiring or new sockets (your electrician handles those)
- The loft conversion itself, which is building work under Building Regulations
- Removing walls, chimney breasts or any structural work
What it costs
A few things affect what fitted furniture costs:
- Hanging rails, shelves, drawers and other fittings inside
- Walls and floors that are out of level or out of square
- Spray painting or hand painting
- Doors and drawers, and how many
Parking is part of the price picture in London. Much of London is covered by controlled parking zones, so a van may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a bay suspension near your home. Let us know about parking during the design visit, so we can plan for it.
What to send when you contact us
To give us a picture of the room, it’s useful to include:
- The type of home and how the room is reached
- Rough measurements, even if they’re only to the nearest few centimetres
- A few pictures of the space, taken from the doorway and from each corner
- Any ideas or images you’ve saved
It is useful to see the room before we come. A few pictures showing the walls, the corners and where the ceiling meets them give us a good feel for the space, especially with rough sizes. To share them, use our contact form, and we’ll arrange a design visit.
Your questions about fitted wardrobes in W2
How do you get fitted wardrobes into a flat?
The wardrobes are made in sections sized to get up the stairs, into the lift and through the doors. That’s why we measure the route, not just the room. In a leasehold flat, it’s worth checking the lease first.
What are your fitted wardrobes made from?
We build with moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, each used where it suits the job best. Your quote sets out the materials.
How do I get a quote?
Simply tell us about the room on our contact form. It is useful to send rough measurements and a few photos, and we will arrange a design visit.
What do you do at the measuring visit?
It’s a chance to measure properly and talk through what you’d like. We look at the walls, floors and anything the furniture has to work around, and the written quote comes afterwards.
What can go inside a fitted wardrobe?
The inside is planned around your clothes. Long hanging, double hanging, shelves, drawers and shoe space can all be included, in the proportions you need. We talk it through during the design visit.
Can you make fitted wardrobes for a home in W2?
Yes. We cover W2 and the rest of Westminster. To get a quote, drop us a line using the contact form.
Should I send pictures?
Yes. They give us a feel for the space before we visit, along with rough measurements. It is useful to show radiators, sockets and anything else on the wall.
