Bespoke kitchens in Westbourne Green, Westminster
Walls in older London homes are rarely straight, so we scribe the furniture to follow them. Our work on bespoke kitchens in Westbourne Green starts with a design visit, and everything is made in our workshop.
- Cabinets that suit lean and sloping walls

About our bespoke kitchens in Westbourne Green
An island can be a good addition where there’s space for one. We check there is comfortable space on every side, because a cramped island makes a kitchen harder to work in. Where space is tight, a peninsula or a longer run may suit better. Typical reasons to get in touch are a kitchen island with room around it and more storage in a small kitchen; the furniture is made from moisture-resistant MDF and strong birch plywood, with a painted finish.
Sash windows and back doors to the garden are common in older kitchens. Around Westbourne Green, where a large share of homes date from before 1919, the layout is drawn around those fixed points. Your plumber connects the sink where the design puts it. The worktop, sink and appliances are your choice.
The written quote is your record of the job. It sets out the kitchen designed for your room, its materials and its finish, and it’s what the workshop builds to.

Boards, parts and paint
Hand-painted finish
Hand painting can be done in your home after fitting. It is easy to touch up later.
Plinths and scribe strips
A plinth hides adjustable feet and lets the cabinets sit level. Scribe strips close the gap to a wall that isn’t straight.
How we price bespoke kitchens
The price reflects the time and materials the job needs. The main factors are:
- Whether you choose a spray or hand-painted finish
- Where a van can park, like a permit bay or a bay suspension
- The internal fittings
- Stairs, lifts and the route to the room
In London, parking can affect the price. The boroughs run controlled parking zones across much of the city, so we may need a visitor permit, a paid bay or a suspended bay near your home. Tell us about parking at the measuring visit, so it can be planned.
Before the design visit
There is no need for exact sizes or plans. It is enough to send:
- Photos of the whole wall or room, including the floor and ceiling
- Rough measurements: width, height and depth
- Whether it is a house or a flat, and if there are stairs or a lift
- Examples of the look you’re after
If you know what you want, say so; if you do not, that is fine, and we can work it out together. At the design visit, we measure up and talk the design through with you, and the written quote that follows sets it out. To arrange a visit, drop us a line using the contact form.
Flats, leases and landlords
Conversions and newer flats often have stud walls rather than solid brick. We choose fixings to suit the wall, after checking the walls at the design visit.
If your building is on a red route or a busy main road, unloading takes some planning. TfL runs the red routes, and the stopping rules are strict, so tell us about it during the design visit.
How fitting day works
When we arrive on fitting day, the first job is covering the floors and protecting the way in from the front door. The sections made at our workshop come in next, a piece at a time. How long fitting takes depends on the size of the kitchen and the design, and your quote sets out the fitting days. Where a period house has been split into flats, the way in often goes through shared parts, so neighbours may appreciate a note before fitting day. The sections are sized for the narrowest point on the route. Saturdays can be arranged.

Advice
Questions we’re often asked
Do you cover homes near London Paddington station?
Yes, homes across Westminster and the rest of London are within the area we cover. To get started, you can fill in our short enquiry form with some details about the room, and tell us about parking and access at the same time.
My home in Westbourne Green is a flat. How do you get the furniture in?
At the design visit, we measure the way in not just the room. The furniture is made in sections that fit the stairs and lift, and put together in the room. It helps to check any building rules and your lease before fitting day.
Who chooses the colour?
You choose it. We agree the colour with you.
What materials do you use for kitchens?
We use moisture-resistant MDF and birch plywood, finished by spray painting or hand painting. Your quote sets out the materials and finish.
Is the furniture spray painted or hand painted?
There are two choices: a spray finish from the workshop, which is smooth and even, or hand painting, which can be done in your home. The finish is agreed in your quote.
Can you fit furniture on an external wall?
An outside wall can be colder and damper than an inside one, so we allow for ventilation behind and inside the furniture, which helps avoid condensation and mould. Any damp needs sorting by the right specialist before fitting.
Made for the room, or bought in a box?
Ready-made units are made to fixed sizes, so the room has to fit the units. Ours are made to fit the room from wall to wall. Tall standalone furniture needs fixing back to the wall so it can’t tip, and in an older house that can mean fixing into brick or lath and plaster. With fitted pieces, the fixings are planned for the wall from the start.
Your quote is written for your room once we’ve visited and measured. The price depends mainly on the size of the piece, how many doors and drawers it has and what goes inside.

The biggest shares of homes in the neighbourhood around Westbourne Green were built before 1919 (about 67%) and between 1973 and 1999 (about 12%), in the VOA’s 2025 council tax stock figures. We take that into account during the design visit, since older and newer walls take different fixings. There are 188 entries on the National Heritage List within half a mile of the centre of Westbourne Green. Original fireplaces, shutters and panelling are worth keeping where they survive, and the furniture can be designed around them rather than over them. Access and parking are talked through during the design visit.
If you live near Emslie Horniman's Pleasance, a tall cupboard for outdoor things can be part of the kitchen design. For a family home near Edward Wilson Primary School, planning a kitchen around family routines, with a place for school things, pays off. Near listed buildings like Church of St Mary Magdalene, less than half a mile north of the centre of Westbourne Green, older homes may keep original joinery that kitchens can be designed around.
